Tuesday Toolbox: Jake KornJune 23, 2009"Man, I can't be shown up by my own mother!" That's what XC2 rider Jake Korn said when his mom started riding dirtbikes. Korn said when his mom started riding, it was time to step up his game. So, Korn grew up as a NETRA rider, like his father before him, but the New Hampshire 21-year-old switched to GNCCs in 2008 and ran the 4-Stroke A lites class until he switched to XC2 this year. Now, he's just on the cusp of getting on the podium. That's all he needs, that and a little more notoriety. We dialed Korn to see just who he is. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Jimmy JarrettJune 16, 2009Jimmy Jarrett has been around for years in the GNCC world and this year, he might be having his best year yet. One of the older guys to still be racing, he's holding his own in the bike XC1 pro class and has finished on the podium four times this year. Heading into Snowshoe, he is motivated to bring home a Championship for Kawasaki. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Michael SwiftJune 9, 2009Team Warnert Racing / Can-Am's Michael Swift fell into GNCC racing after racing local Harescrambles. Soon he found out he was actually really good at it! Swift decided to join Mike Penland to race Baja in 2005 and the rest is history. He hooked up with BRP Can-Am and sent his resume in and now, he's juggling owning his own business and being first in his class every round in the 2009 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series. We've never done a Tuesday Toolbox on Michael, so read on to find out a little more. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Dirk DeCesareJune 2, 2009Dirk DeCesare has had a few set-backs in his career. His first year in the pro class, in fact his very first race in the pro class could quite possibly be called a disaster. DeCesare sustained injuries in a wreck in the first mile and spent several months rehabilitating. As soon as the doctors said he was able to do physical activity he hopped on his quad, just in time to wreck and total it. DeCesare went back to square one yet again, all for the love of GNCC Racing. Today, DeCesare took time out from work, and making sure his dog didn't attack any more of his friends to talk about his experience and why he keeps coming back for more. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Randy HawkinsMay 26, 2009Randy Hawkins is an icon in the off-road industry, and that's why the AMA just announced he's going into their motorcycling Hall of Fame. Randy's seven AMA National Enduro Championships alone would qualify him as a hall-of-famer but he has done so much more, from managing and owning the Am-Pro FMF Yamaha team, to hosting the GNCC University school at Snowshoe, to producing a new DVD called Champions at Play. Why does Randy do it all? Because he loves the sport. Here's a conversation with the true southern gentleman of off-road racing. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Mike BensonMay 19, 2009Mike Benson has been around for a long time in GNCC racing-nearly 30 years, in fact. For the last three, he's been battling in the GNCC U2 class in the ATV morning race, battling for class and overall wins. Tuesday Toolbox Too: QuadZoneMay 12, 2009Gary Belbeck has a lot on his plate this season. Along with assisting with the website at www.QuadZone.com and helping XC2 rider Brian Wolf run a successful season, Belbeck races himself. This weekend, Belbeck and the Quad Zone team will organize a benefit cookout on Friday night at the Mountain Ridge GNCC. The website celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, and the big cookout at the track will generate proceeds for RiderDown.org. With everything on his plate Belbeck emphasizes keeping racers and fans alike happy and healthy through the use of his Web site and charity benefits. - Tuesday Toolbox: Jason ThomasMay 12, 2009Monster Energy/ Andrews Yamaha's Jason Thomas is looking for a few things. First of which, is a GNCC XC2 Championship and secondly --a girlfriend. Thomas came over to the U.S. all on his lonesome after growing up basically in the Welsh Forest in Wales. He is doing consistently well in the XC2 ranks. What's his secret? Thomas said being here alone makes him even more determined than the rest.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Chris MeadowsMay 5, 2009Chris Meadows juggles life as an 8th grade student while racing in the Super-mini(14-15) class. Meadows had a rough year last season, filled with bad luck. But this season, things have changed for the 14-year-old. He's taken first overall in the last three rounds. Meadows' goal is to win the Youth Championship and maybe, one day soon, get factory support.

Tuesday Toolbox: Glen PritchardApril 28, 200950-year-old Glen Pritchard has been first in the Super Senior class all five rounds of the 2009 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series. Pritchard has only been racing since 2005, and has a full-time job. He just accomplished one of his main goals at the Acerbis Loretta Lynn by winning the Morning Race ATV overall, beating out factory-supported and more experienced competition. Glen took a break from work to tell us a little bit about how he accomplishes it all. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Bill BallanceApril 21, 2009Bill Ballance has overcome a lot this season. First he had a cancer scare, which ended in surgery to have a tumor and ribs removed. Then, while still recovering from surgery, he DNFed in Florida and Georgia. He finally got on the podium at Steele Creek and has been there since, getting on the top spot of the podium this weekend at the Acerbis Loretta Lynn's. Will Ballance grab number 10 and retire or will he back next season? -
Tuesday Toolbox: Angel AtwellApril 14, 2009Angel Atwell almost sat out this season after racing for a few years without factory support. KTM swooped in to sign her on and three weeks later she was in Florida with a new quad. Four rounds into the season, and she has yet to lose a race. Can she keep it up to win the championship?
