- Tuesday Toolbox: Chris MeadowsMay 5, 2009Chris Meadows juggles life as an 8th grade student while racing in the Super-mini(14-15) class. Meadows had a rough year last season, filled with bad luck. But this season, things have changed for the 14-year-old. He's taken first overall in the last three rounds. Meadows' goal is to win the Youth Championship and maybe, one day soon, get factory support.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Glen PritchardApril 28, 200950-year-old Glen Pritchard has been first in the Super Senior class all five rounds of the 2009 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series. Pritchard has only been racing since 2005, and has a full-time job. He just accomplished one of his main goals at the Acerbis Loretta Lynn by winning the Morning Race ATV overall, beating out factory-supported and more experienced competition. Glen took a break from work to tell us a little bit about how he accomplishes it all.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Bill BallanceApril 21, 2009Bill Ballance has overcome a lot this season. First he had a cancer scare, which ended in surgery to have a tumor and ribs removed. Then, while still recovering from surgery, he DNFed in Florida and Georgia. He finally got on the podium at Steele Creek and has been there since, getting on the top spot of the podium this weekend at the Acerbis Loretta Lynn's. Will Ballance grab number 10 and retire or will he back next season?
- Tuesday Toolbox: Angel AtwellApril 14, 2009Angel Atwell almost sat out this season after racing for a few years without factory support. KTM swooped in to sign her on and three weeks later she was in Florida with a new quad. Four rounds into the season, and she has yet to lose a race. Can she keep it up to win the championship?
- Tuesday Toolbox: Kailub RussellApril 7, 2009At the Big Buck GNCC, Shock Doctor KTM's Kailub Russell achieved what only one other XC2 rider in the history of GNCC has been able to do-cross the finish line in the top three overall. The son of AMA National Enduro Champion Jeff Russell, he was born into racing-starting competitively at age 4. But don't think it's that easy. Let's see how Russell pulled off his incredible finish.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Josh StrangMarch 31, 2009After an unlucky start at the River Ranch GNCC, Josh Strang is coming back full force, taking 3rd at the General GNCC and 1st at Steele Creek. He looks to win again at Big Buck this week to tighten up the ranks. Can he keep his momentum going and come out with the 2009 GNCC Championship?
- Tuesday Toolbox: Bryan CookMarch 24, 2009Bryan Cook had up and down results in his first few years racing in the GNCC pro ranks, but now, as a privateer riding for childhood friend Santo Derisi, he's moving up in the ranks - winning the weekend's Steele Creek GNCC and moving into fourth overall in the early-season standings. Cook doesn't have factory support, or the recognition, of other factory riders that he beat this weekend. He also works a full time job. How does he manage it all? And why doesn't he get more attention?
- Tuesday Toolbox: Glenn KearneyMarch 19, 2009Husqvarna's Glenn Kearney had high hopes for a GNCC Championship this season, but he broke his leg just 19 days before the season started in Florida. Amazingly, he scored 10th in the XC1 Class at the opener, anyway, riding in pain. This weekend, this Australian transplant gets to race in his adopted home of North Carolina, and his leg is getting better. Can Glenn fight through the pain and get back to the front of the pack?
- Tuesday Toolbox: Paul WhibleyMarch 10, 2009While Paul Whibley might wear the number-two plate on his bike based on his runner-up finish in last year's GNCC tour, him taking to the championship throne vacated by David Knight is no guarantee. Whibs had to switch to a new team and a new bike brand in the off-season, and also deal with a motivated pack of championship rivals. But after the first two rounds of racing, he is the series' points leader. We spoke with him to see what the early season has been like.
- Special Interview: Rita CoombsFebruary 26, 2009The matriarch of GNCC Racing, Rita Coombs, hasn't been heard from in awhile. Here in the office, her considerable presence is never far, because Rita still works here every day and, over the last few weeks, has been putting in her typical overtime hours to get ready for Florida. These are strange times in our industry and in many others around the world. For assurance that we will get through it, we decided to interview her for the first time ever on this site. Consider this the GNCC equivalent of the fireside chat.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Mike PenlandFebruary 17, 2009Mike Penland is the man many credit with launching GNCC Utility ATV racing into the serious business it is now. With 11 GNCC Utlity Championships, Penland packs quite a resume, and his dedication to his sport gets him a lot of respect in the pits. Penland represents the true GNCC Utlity racer, because he literally took a quad out of his garage and started racing it, whereas nowadays people buy their machines for the sole purpose of racing. Penland has been at this for a long time and has some good stories to tell, so we rounded him up for an interview.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Barry HawkFebruary 10, 2009In the unpredictable world of GNCC Racing, Barry Hawk has proven to be one of the few things you can count on. Beginning with his ATV title wins in the early 1990s, to his annual threats for bike wins and titles in the 2000s, no one has raced GNCC at such a high level for as long as Barry. But after a tough 2008 season that saw him nearly slip out of the top ten for the first time in a long time, Hawk is facing some questions.
