How's it going today?
The day is going great, started off with a Starbucks run.

So fill everyone in on who you are.
I'm Mike Wozny and I'm the 338 in Open A. Been absent prior to last year for two years due to injury, but now I’m back and ready to be competitive with the fastest A guys there are.

How did you get started in the off-road world?
I got started racing off-road when I was twelve years old. My cousin took me to a local hare scramble and ever since then I’ve been hooked to racing in the woods.

What attracted you to racing the GNCC series?
The GNCC series is the best of the best racers on the East Coast, and I want to be one of them. Growing up only racing locals and then going to a national is a completely different experience. It's like being in the big times if you raced a GNCC. So to start racing the series when I was on mini's was awesome.

So how has your GNCC career gone?
My racing career has finally turned around for the better! Prior to last year the two years before that it was just miserable. I blew my right knee out twice and my left knee once all one after another. It seemed like I couldn't catch a break. After getting hurt like that you think is it worth it anymore, but once I was able to swing my leg over my bike again it was like that didn't even matter. I just wanted to get better and faster than I ever was and I'm on the right track. Last year I finished third in Open A and couldn't be happier coming off those injuries.

What has been the biggest accomplishment of your racing career?
The biggest accomplishment for me has been able to recover from those injuries and rebound with finishing last year healthy.

How has your 2012 season been going?
This season has started off tough. At the first round I was happy to finish with a solid place but Georgia and North Carolina went horrible with problems. Then Big Buck is finally the result I’ve been working towards with a second!

How did it feel to bounce back with a strong finish at Big Buck?
It felt great, I'm so happy to have a race go good and actually reflect on how hard I have been working.

What's it going to take for you to continue with that success?
I'm going to do exactly what I did in South Carolina and that's have fun. I am having such a great time this year with traveling and racing i couldn't ask for much more.

What is the competition like in the Open-A class?
Open A is one of the top A classes and to be a contender in it feels great. There are more than a handful of guys who can win every weekend and that's what makes you be on your A game every race. This last race there were four of us that finished within a minute or less of each other, now that is extremely close for a three hour race.

What's it like with everyone gunning for that Top Amateur spot?
Everyone wants that spot, it’s the most noticeable spot for us A riders. It says that you were the fastest of the day and that’s a great feeling, haven't felt it yet but soon (laugh)

What are your goals for the 2012 season?
My goal for this year is to go to every race and have fun. If I'm not having fun I don't do good, I get way to nervous and screw up. (laughs) My girlfriend Jillian is helping me with that and it worked this past weekend.

Where do you want to go with your racing in the future?
I want to make racing my career. I have the dream and desire of trying to be one the greats in the off-road world. It’s hard cause I learned it takes a lot of money to get there and that's one thing that I and a lot of people are missing. I feel like I have the natural talent, just getting that break or someone taking that chance to help me get to the next level is what I'm waiting for, so if there are any takers let me know!

So you've been featured in some of Rob Mitchell's videos. What's it like to get that kind of exposure?
It's amazing to get that kind of spotlight for yourself. It's showing that not only are you good which Rob makes me look super awesome in all of the his videos but shows to certain people that you are a marketable person. It just gets you out there to get more recognized and hopefully lead to one day catching a break to get some help.

How would you recommend other riders get that kind of exposure?
Really, I learned to get anywhere is from being in the right spot at the right time. I met Rob through a friend and after that we became best friends that traveled, rode and filmed together. Or you can go up to Rob, or me and just start talking really, we are really nice guys so just ask. We are all friends who try and help all our other friends out.

Plus, it's just cool to see yourself in a video, isn't it?
It’s super awesome to see yourself in a video, are you kidding me? Not one time when I saw myself I sat there with a frowned face and said that guy isn't rad (laughs)

Alright, before we wrap this up, who would you like to thank?
I have to give a shout to my friends Steve Winiarz at STS Motorsports who hooks me up with the coolest looking graphics, Rob Mitchell for always wanting to travel and film together, Bailey Donell for showing support and spreading all the sweet web edits that I’m in. It’s cool to see your friends believe in you and that means a lot. The girlfriend Jillian who has been helping me get to the races, I can't say thank you enough. Also the family, Mom and Grandma, for being supportive because it is a expensive sport and without them I wouldn't be racing so thanks. And you Jared for thinking of me for this, see you guys at the next one.
