Quick Fill #4: This Week in GNCCJanuary 28, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill. Another week down and another week closer to kicking off the 2021 GNCC Racing season. Crunch time is pretty much here as we’re now just three weeks out from the start of the new race season. In some ways it seems like the off-season just began because he sure has flown by, but at the same time I was sitting back and thinking that I had really only been to one race since the last GNCC event, and that was the NECXC Buddy Race back in November. It’s been a while but that time in between races is really starting to wind down and we’ll be back into the swing of the race season before we know what happened.
Quick Fill #3: This Week in GNCCJanuary 21, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill.Wow, this off-season is really starting to tick away. We’re now just THIRTY days away from kicking off the 2021 GNCC Racing season and boy is it shaping up to be a great year. For me, it seems like the excitement just builds more and more each day and by the time we’re on the road to Big Buck, we just may all be busting at the seams with excitement. Of course, 30 days is still a bit of time and there are a lot of preparations still left and also some pre-season racing teasers that are coming up in the next few weeks.
Quick Fill #2: This Week in GNCCJanuary 15, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill. We’re rolling through the off-season and that’s actually progressing pretty quickly into the “pre-season” which will progress into race season before we know it. That’s pretty exciting in some ways but at the same time, if you’re not ready to get off and rolling you should get on the ball because it will be go time in, well, no time! We’ve been wide open not only getting things prepared for the 2021 season but also finishing up things from 2020 as well.
Quick Fill #1: This Week in GNCCJanuary 7, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill. And welcome to a jam-packed first edition of Quick Fill in 2021! This year actually marks season number SIXTEEN of Quick Fill. That’s right, its now been 15 years since the first edition of Quick Fill graced the GNCC website back in 2006 and as it enters it’s 16th season I really hope to keep this thing informative but also want to make it fun to read at the same time. Last year I mentioned that I had dug through a bunch of old editions of Quick Fill dating back to when it first started and Jason Weigandt really made those old Quick Fill entries entertaining.
Quick Fill #42: This Week in GNCCDecember 18, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill.Last weekend’s virtual banquets actually turned out pretty darn cool! Sure, it’s not the same as having a banquet in-person but overall it was still a lot of fun. To those who sent in videos, or those in the top 3 who joined via Zoom, Thank You! We understand this “virtual” thing wasn’t for everyone but if you skipped out just because you didn’t even want to try it, well, you actually missed out on a good time. It turned out to be a bit longer than a normal banquet but the magic of online streaming is that you could leave and come back as much as you want.
Quick Fill #41: This Week in GNCCDecember 10, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill.Another week is in the books and we’re rolling head first into this weekend’s GNCC Virtual Banquets. It’s a bummer to not be able to get together and do these banquets in person but given that the whole world is still working through the Covid-19 pandemic it’s just not feasible to have a traditional banquet. We’re hopeful that things start to get back to normal in 2021 and we can get back to a typical banquet in the future. Yes, we know a “virtual banquet” isn’t what you guys want, but this still gives you the opportunity to say thank you to those who deserve it.
Quick Fill #40: This Week in GNCCDecember 3, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. We’re several weeks into the off-season and in a normal year, this is the point where we would all be getting ready for a traditional GNCC banquet. Unfortunately, as you already know, we’re unable to host a banquet this year due to obvious COVID-19 issues. We’re still on track to do the Virtual Banquets and yes, we know this isn’t the same and isn’t the most ideal thing, but it’s still the opportunity for you to showcase your accomplishments for the year and say thanks to those who helped make your season happen.
Quick Fill #39: This Week in GNCCNovember 19, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. The off-season is officially in full swing as we’re now more than a week past the final event of the season. It’s still early. The novelty of having a “weekend off” is still new to a lot of folks at this point, so it may seem kind of nice. But, give it a few more weeks. This time next month you’ll be saying to yourself; “I wish we were racing this weekend” For some folks, the off-season is just now getting kicked off as there were still other events to contend with this past weekend.
Quick Fill #38: This Week in GNCCNovember 12, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill.Round 13 is done and dusted. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but that’s a wrap on the 2020 GNCC Racing season. We made it through round 13 and got in a full season amidst one of the wildest years in the history of the world. Give yourself a pat on the back because this is an impressive feat and here’s to hoping that things get a little more normal in 2021. As for the final round, the Buckwheat 100 turned out to be pretty darn fun!
Quick Fill #37: This Week in GNCCOctober 29, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill.Wow. What an incredible weekend at Ironman. We say it time and time again that Ironman is the biggest and most popular event of the year, and time after time it continues to prove that point. This one was no different. Coming in at just 17 riders short of the previous record, this year’s Ironman was yet again one for the ages. While it didn’t hit the all-time record, it came pretty close and we did have the largest turnout of AM Bikes, Youth Bikes and Micro Bikes of all-time!
Quick Fill #36: This Week in GNCCOctober 22, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing once again, and boy is it time for a big one! This weekend, it’s time for Ironman. This is the biggest and most popular race of the entire season, and with good reason. The track is fun, when Mother Nature cooperates, it can potentially be really beautiful in Crawfordsville, Indiana this time of year, and of course there are a lot of people from all over that come out to Ironman. It seems like just about the entire town shows up to watch, and a lot of them also join in on the racing fun. On top of that, a ton of industry professionals make their way out as well. So, in short, it’s a really, really big deal!
Quick Fill #35: This Week in GNCCOctober 15, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. How about the Mason-Dixon? It turned out to be a bit on the dusty side and by Sunday afternoon, the silt made a few places look and feel a bit like Florida sand. Maybe I’m just an oddball but I actually kind of enjoy riding in the loose, silty dirt like that and while it hides some rocks and roots some folks will agree they’ll take that over the mud. Of course, I know quite a few of you would rather ride in the mud as well but hey, to each their own! Any weekend of racing, in any conditions is still better than doing anything else.
