Quick Fill #34: This Week in GNCCOctober 8, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing? We’re ready to get this weekend’s Mason-Dixon GNCC off and rolling, and boy is it looking like a fun course. As usual, I’ll have a quick run down of what to expect coming up a little later in this edition of Quick Fill. This weekend also promises to be big as there’s an opportunity to wrap up a number of National Championships, but there are also a number of other riders who have been on fire lately who will be looking to continue their success. On top of this, this week we also made an announcement on the location of the final round!
Quick Fill #33: This Week in GNCCOctober 1, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. That was yet another great weekend of racing, was it not? It seems like the last several times we’ve visited Sunday Creek Raceway we’ve been dealt a poor hand with the weather but this time it was finally dry! In fact, it was really dry and we did have some dust to contend with but overall it was actually really, really good. For me, I felt like that was the best track I’ve ever ridden there and the conditions definitely helped in that. Not just because it was dry on the track but the fact that the layout felt a lot different than we’ve gotten used to at The John Penton.
Quick Fill #32: This Week in GNCCSeptember 25, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing once again! This weekend we’re back at Sunday Creek Raceway, home of The John Penton GNCC, but this time we’re calling it the Burr Oak GNCC. Why call it Burr Oak? Well, that was the original name of the event when it was added to the schedule back in 1990. With it currently serving as the oldest event on the schedule, it only seemed fitting to honor the original name. Also, there were a number of times that the Burr Oak was held around this same time of the year. So, while The John Penton traditionally seems like a bit of a throwback race, this time is no different.
Quick Fill #31: This Week in GNCCSeptember 17, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. Was that a wild weekend of racing, or what? The Mountaineer GNCC proved to be tough and rugged, but even more interesting was the outcomes the event produced. With two riders claiming their first overall wins of the season, and both coming as somewhat as a surprise this proved to be one of the best races of the season and one of the best returns from summer break of all-time.
Quick Fill #30: This Week in GNCCSeptember 4, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s almost time to get back into the swing of racing! This time next week we’ll be gathering at the Summit Bechtel Reserve for The Mountaineer GNCC, and it sounds like there’s a lot of you excited for the return of GNCC Racing. Actually, I’m sure there are some folks who are even just excited for the return of Quick Fill. Yes, it’s been a little bit since we’ve put one of these together because, well, the past month has been a whirlwind of happenings on our end.
Quick Fill #29: This Week in GNCCJuly 23, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. Summer break is officially underway as we’re now into our first full week, but for some the work never stops. Whether its racing other series, training, or just getting in some seat time, it seems like while there’s a break from GNCC, there’s really not a much of a break from being around our race machines. Of course, it’s not a break for our staff either as we’re neck deep in preparations for the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s. There’s a huge amount of work involved in making that event happen, and obviously this year has been even more challenging than normal.
Quick Fill #28: This Week in GNCCJuly 16, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. Also, welcome to summer break. It’s almost seems hard to believe we’ve made it to the summer break. For some, it may feel like the time has flown by. For others, it may feel like it’s taken forever to get to this point. Either category you fall in, the break is here and we’ve now got a little time off before the series picks back up in September. For the majority of the GNCC staff, well, there’s really no break for us as we’re rolling head first into Loretta Lynn’s.
Quick Fill #27: This Week in GNCCJuly 10, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing! We’re set up and ready to go here on the West Virginia/Pennsylvania state line for this weekend’s High Voltage GNCC. This is actually going to be a pretty fun track, and just because you may take a look at the map and think there’s a lot of field or think it’s pretty short, well, don’t be deceived by that map. I’ll have all the details on that coming up soon in this edition of Quick Fill.
Quick Fill #26: This Week in GNCCJuly 2, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. What a weekend. The John Penton is notorious for either being really muddy, or really dusty. Last weekend saw a little bit of both, but overall it turned out really well. These were some of the better conditions the Penton has seen in several years and I believe most everyone who raced came away pleasantly surprised. That southern Ohio clay is likely the slickest and stickiest substance on the face of the planet when its wet, but we got very lucky with the rain and instead of a mudfest, it turned out to be pretty darn good.
Quick Fill #25: This Week in GNCCJune 25, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing once again! This weekend’s John Penton GNCC in Ohio is coming together and we’re excited to get the weekend underway. The John Penton is the oldest event currently on the schedule with this year marking the 31st version of the event. It originally joined the schedule as the Burr Oaks GNCC, but was renamed to honor the legendary John Penton, who is from Ohio.
Quick Fill #24: This Week in GNCCJune 19, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill.First off, sorry for the delay in getting this week’s edition of Quick Fill live for your viewing pleasure. We’re running the Mid-East Amateur Regional for Loretta Lynn’s this weekend at Ironman, so we’ve all been wide open getting the place up and going the past couple of days and had a full day of practice on Friday. So, this week’s Quick Fill came a little late, but I always say better late than never!
Quick Fill #23: This Week in GNCCJune 11, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing! For the first time since 2002, we’re officially having a High Point GNCC. Yes, everything will be based out of the Mathews Farm property where we host the Mason-Dixon, and yes, there’s a good bit of racecourse on the Mathews Farm property as well, but it’s still been 18 years since we’ve had an event called the High Point GNCC, and it’s really cool to be back. While it might be heavily based out of Mathews Farm, don’t expect it to be like Mason-Dixon. Everything has a very different feel, and its pretty cool to see all the trees so green.
