Tuesday Toolbox: FactoryONE Sherco's Bryan Kraham & Eric SiratonApril 7, 2020In case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t noticed, Sherco has made a huge push into off-road racing this season. For GNCCs and NEPGs they signed the Baylor Brothers, while making Cody Webb the face of their Extreme Off-Road and EnduroCross program. These are some big names, which is appropriate, given the big plans Sherco has in the works. I spoke with two Sherco representatives about these plans and the GNCC program in particular: Bryan Kraham, Sherco’s chief marketing officer, and a more familiar name to the GNCC crowd, Eric Siraton, the longtime Honda mechanic, now the new GNCC team manager and lead mechanic for FactoryONE Sherco.
Tuesday Toolbox: Jake FromanMarch 31, 2020Jake Froman is a promising 23-year old racer from Lynnville, Indiana. Despite racing and going to school full-time, he was able to earn a handful of podiums and his first FMF XC3 125cc Pro-Am class win last season. While off to a bit of a rough start this year due to a lingering knee issue, Froman should be a solid contender this year in the FMF XC3 class.
The Specialized General GNCC: eMTB Race ReportMarch 27, 2020The first round of the 2020 Specialized Turbo eMTB GNCC National Championship took place on Saturday, March 14th . One of the notable features of this venue is the red clay that makes up the bulk of the property. It gets insanely slippery when wet and can also be a bit slippery when dry, when the loose dirt sits on top of hard-packed clay. And that clay does pack down very hard, making a solid and fast surface to ride on.

Tuesday Toolbox: Josh MerrittMarch 24, 2020Josh Merritt is an XC1 Pro ATV racer in the GNCC Series and off to the best start of his career. In addition, he tried his hand at a new form of racing several weeks ago – the ATV Supercross at the Daytona International Speedway. He plans to hit more ATV Motocross rounds, schedule permitting, though GNCC remains his main focus. Originally from Ohio, he now lives and works for the Glauda Family in the Carolinas, where he has a great group of people to ride and train with.
Tuesday Toolbox: Johnny GirroirMarch 17, 2020Johnny Girroir recently won his first XC2 race at the Wild Boar GNCC and is the current points leader in a very stacked XC2 class. I talked to him immediately following The General, though the main focus of the interview was his first-ever XC2 win at Wild Boar last week. Johnny has been through a lot in the past several years, but if he can stay healthy he will definitely be a title contender in 2020.
Moose Racing Wild Boar GNCC: Youth Bike Race ReportMarch 13, 2020ound two of the 2020 Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, took place on March 7th and 8th. The race takes place at Hog Waller Mud Bog, on the edge of Rodman Plantation. The Hurricane GNCC took place near here many years ago, and since 2015 the GNCC series has returned to the area for Wild Boar. Since we are in Florida, obviously the place is pretty sandy, but the type of sand varies throughout the course, ranging from white sugar sand to a black-colored loam. Palmetto and tree roots also have a habit of sneaking up on you, and the mudholes can also present a challenge.

Tuesday Toolbox: Skeet (Hog Waller Co-Owner)March 10, 2020Skeet co-owns Hog Waller Mud Bog and ATV Park along with his sister. This park takes up a small part of the larger property, which the family calls Rodman Plantation. Parts of the plantation have been in the family for twenty years now, long enough that they were involved in the original Rodman Plantation GNCC – The Hurricane. I sat down with Skeet the Friday before Wild Boar to talk to him about the land, its history, and how a ranching family ended up running an off-road park.
