Quick Fill #28: This Week in GNCC July 16, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. Also, welcome to summer break. It’s almost seems hard to believe we’ve made it to the summer break. For some, it may feel like the time has flown by. For others, it may feel like it’s taken forever to get to this point. Either category you fall in, the break is here and we’ve now got a little time off before the series picks back up in September. For the majority of the GNCC staff, well, there’s really no break for us as we’re rolling head first into Loretta Lynn’s.
Quick Fill #27: This Week in GNCC July 10, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing! We’re set up and ready to go here on the West Virginia/Pennsylvania state line for this weekend’s High Voltage GNCC. This is actually going to be a pretty fun track, and just because you may take a look at the map and think there’s a lot of field or think it’s pretty short, well, don’t be deceived by that map. I’ll have all the details on that coming up soon in this edition of Quick Fill.
Quick Fill #26: This Week in GNCC July 2, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. What a weekend. The John Penton is notorious for either being really muddy, or really dusty. Last weekend saw a little bit of both, but overall it turned out really well. These were some of the better conditions the Penton has seen in several years and I believe most everyone who raced came away pleasantly surprised. That southern Ohio clay is likely the slickest and stickiest substance on the face of the planet when its wet, but we got very lucky with the rain and instead of a mudfest, it turned out to be pretty darn good.
Quick Fill #25: This Week in GNCC June 25, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing once again! This weekend’s John Penton GNCC in Ohio is coming together and we’re excited to get the weekend underway. The John Penton is the oldest event currently on the schedule with this year marking the 31st version of the event. It originally joined the schedule as the Burr Oaks GNCC, but was renamed to honor the legendary John Penton, who is from Ohio.
Quick Fill #24: This Week in GNCC June 19, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill.First off, sorry for the delay in getting this week’s edition of Quick Fill live for your viewing pleasure. We’re running the Mid-East Amateur Regional for Loretta Lynn’s this weekend at Ironman, so we’ve all been wide open getting the place up and going the past couple of days and had a full day of practice on Friday. So, this week’s Quick Fill came a little late, but I always say better late than never!
Quick Fill #23: This Week in GNCC June 11, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing! For the first time since 2002, we’re officially having a High Point GNCC. Yes, everything will be based out of the Mathews Farm property where we host the Mason-Dixon, and yes, there’s a good bit of racecourse on the Mathews Farm property as well, but it’s still been 18 years since we’ve had an event called the High Point GNCC, and it’s really cool to be back. While it might be heavily based out of Mathews Farm, don’t expect it to be like Mason-Dixon. Everything has a very different feel, and its pretty cool to see all the trees so green.
Quick Fill #22: This Week in GNCC June 4, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. What a weekend of racing! As usual, Moree’s Sportsman’s Preserve welcomed us with open arms to their beautiful facility for another running of the Camp Coker Bullet GNCC. For several years now, this event has seen good turnouts but honestly hasn’t been one of the bigger events of the year. That’s a shame because the facility itself is so cool with its numerous ponds, beautiful green fields and plentiful parking. This year ended up being the largest Camp Coker event to date, which is really great considering the unfavorable weather leading into the event.
Quick Fill #21: This Week in GNCC May 28, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing once again! We’re full swing into getting ready for this weekend’s Camp Coker Bullet GNCC in Society Hill, South Carolina. We did get a full day of rain in Wednesday but dodged all the rain on Thursday and got a good bit of sunshine throughout the day that really dried out a lot of the course. We rerouted a few spots that ended up staying very wet, and also stayed out of the low spots to begin with, so as of Thursday evening everything is looking really great!
Quick Fill #20: This Week in GNCC May 21, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. What a weekend! It was so great to get back to the track and go GNCC Racing last weekend in Georgia. The Bulldog GNCC was definitely no re-do of The General, even though they were held at the same location. This time around, the Aonia Pass MX facility felt totally different and the course was a good bit different. We were able to route portions of the track through some areas that typically have standing water in them when we’re here in March. We also cut in a few new sections of trail, and ran through some other sections that haven’t been used in quite a few years. It turned out to be really fun, and produced some exciting racing as well.
Quick Fill #19: This Week in GNCC May 14, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing! We’re putting the finishing touches on this weekend’s Bulldog GNCC in Washington, Georgia and it’s looking to be a great weekend in the woods. Since we first announced the return to Aonia Pass for round four of the 2020 season, I’ve discussed how you shouldn’t expect the same course we raced last time here back in March. Well, I knew we’d change it up a bit but I didn’t expect us to change it as much as we have. Obviously there are a few spots that you have to use but the overwhelming majority of the course is different than what we rode earlier this season.
Quick Fill #18: This Week in GNCC May 7, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s official! We’re going racing next weekend, May 16-17. We’ve worked hard to put everything together and we’ll be heading back to Aonia Pass MX in Washington, Georgia. This time we’ll be calling it The Bulldog! It’s exciting to get back to racing, and we realize it’s not totally ideal to go back to a facility we’ve already raced at this season, but given the situation right now and availability of race locations, going to a community familiar with GNCC Racing is the most sensible thing.
Quick Fill #17: This Week in GNCC April 30, 2020 Welcome to Quick Fill. This is an exciting week because we’ve got some news to talk about! By now you’ve likely seen the PR stating that we’re TENTATIVELY planning to get back to racing in the weekend of May 16-17 in Georgia. In case you haven’t read the PR, you can view the whole thing HERE, but the big news in the PR states that we’re working with local officials and landowners in Georgia and South Carolina to make a return to racing. There are still some details to finalize, so it’s not 100% set in stone just yet but we’re really hopeful this all comes together.
