Quick Fill #7: This Week in GNCCFebruary 18, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill.Alright, it’s go time! Yes, we are racing this weekend. Sure, there might be a few little wet patches here and there but overall things are looking to be much, much better than most folks are expecting. It rained a lot in the weeks leading up to this event, rained a lot last weekend, but this place just seems to run off a lot of the rain. We arrived Sunday night and pulled three semis, our water truck and two campers right into the facility, and even put them back in a corner that is the lowest lying spot in the field. I’m not going to tell you it’s dry and dusty, there are some wet patches in the pits, but it’s NOT the swampy mud fest some folks have been thinking.
Quick Fill #6: This Week in GNCCFebruary 12, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill. Crunch time is on! This time next week we’ll be preparing to roll into the Big Buck Farm in order to get ready for the first round of GNCC Racing in 2021. Well, actually, our crew will have already been there for a few days at that point and I’m sure we’ll have some teasers to share. For us this means crunch time is absolutely here and we’re counting the hours instead of days at this point. Regardless, it’s almost time to go racing and Big Buck is on the horizon.
Quick Fill #5: This Week in GNCCFebruary 4, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill. The off-season is officially beginning to wind down as we now approach the two-week point from the start of the 2021 GNCC Racing season. The time crunch is on as these final two weeks will fly by and it’s going to be time to go racing in just the blink of an eye. That means the time is now to get your machines in order and ready to go because time is running out. A lot of folks are ready, are you?
Quick Fill #4: This Week in GNCCJanuary 28, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill. Another week down and another week closer to kicking off the 2021 GNCC Racing season. Crunch time is pretty much here as we’re now just three weeks out from the start of the new race season. In some ways it seems like the off-season just began because he sure has flown by, but at the same time I was sitting back and thinking that I had really only been to one race since the last GNCC event, and that was the NECXC Buddy Race back in November. It’s been a while but that time in between races is really starting to wind down and we’ll be back into the swing of the race season before we know what happened.
Quick Fill #3: This Week in GNCCJanuary 21, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill.Wow, this off-season is really starting to tick away. We’re now just THIRTY days away from kicking off the 2021 GNCC Racing season and boy is it shaping up to be a great year. For me, it seems like the excitement just builds more and more each day and by the time we’re on the road to Big Buck, we just may all be busting at the seams with excitement. Of course, 30 days is still a bit of time and there are a lot of preparations still left and also some pre-season racing teasers that are coming up in the next few weeks.
Quick Fill #2: This Week in GNCCJanuary 15, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill. We’re rolling through the off-season and that’s actually progressing pretty quickly into the “pre-season” which will progress into race season before we know it. That’s pretty exciting in some ways but at the same time, if you’re not ready to get off and rolling you should get on the ball because it will be go time in, well, no time! We’ve been wide open not only getting things prepared for the 2021 season but also finishing up things from 2020 as well.
Tuesday Toolbox: Adam MayhewJanuary 12, 2021Adam Mayhew busted on the eMTB scene at the end of 2019 with the amateur class win at the final eMTB round. Adam came into the 2020 season to race the series full-time and ended up coming away with the Amateur class championship. We caught up with Adam to learn more.
Quick Fill #1: This Week in GNCCJanuary 7, 2021Welcome to Quick Fill. And welcome to a jam-packed first edition of Quick Fill in 2021! This year actually marks season number SIXTEEN of Quick Fill. That’s right, its now been 15 years since the first edition of Quick Fill graced the GNCC website back in 2006 and as it enters it’s 16th season I really hope to keep this thing informative but also want to make it fun to read at the same time. Last year I mentioned that I had dug through a bunch of old editions of Quick Fill dating back to when it first started and Jason Weigandt really made those old Quick Fill entries entertaining.
Tuesday Toolbox: Mike GrizzleJanuary 5, 2021Dahlonega, Georgia’s Mike Grizzle has been a pretty well known name among racers in the southeast for many years. The, dare we say, ‘grizzled’ veteran has been around the block with a long history racing GNCC, National Enduro, SETRA and a many other local level events. Working his way up through A class ranks, to a local level pro, and now into 50+ age classes, Grizzle is no stranger to finding success at the front of the pack. This year he made more GNCC appearances that he has in quite a few years, and it paid off with the Masters A championship. We caught up with Grizz himself to talk about his season, and much more.
Quick Fill #42: This Week in GNCCDecember 18, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill.Last weekend’s virtual banquets actually turned out pretty darn cool! Sure, it’s not the same as having a banquet in-person but overall it was still a lot of fun. To those who sent in videos, or those in the top 3 who joined via Zoom, Thank You! We understand this “virtual” thing wasn’t for everyone but if you skipped out just because you didn’t even want to try it, well, you actually missed out on a good time. It turned out to be a bit longer than a normal banquet but the magic of online streaming is that you could leave and come back as much as you want.
Quick Fill #41: This Week in GNCCDecember 10, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill.Another week is in the books and we’re rolling head first into this weekend’s GNCC Virtual Banquets. It’s a bummer to not be able to get together and do these banquets in person but given that the whole world is still working through the Covid-19 pandemic it’s just not feasible to have a traditional banquet. We’re hopeful that things start to get back to normal in 2021 and we can get back to a typical banquet in the future. Yes, we know a “virtual banquet” isn’t what you guys want, but this still gives you the opportunity to say thank you to those who deserve it.
Quick Fill #40: This Week in GNCCDecember 3, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. We’re several weeks into the off-season and in a normal year, this is the point where we would all be getting ready for a traditional GNCC banquet. Unfortunately, as you already know, we’re unable to host a banquet this year due to obvious COVID-19 issues. We’re still on track to do the Virtual Banquets and yes, we know this isn’t the same and isn’t the most ideal thing, but it’s still the opportunity for you to showcase your accomplishments for the year and say thanks to those who helped make your season happen.
