Quick Fill #39: This Week in GNCCNovember 19, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. The off-season is officially in full swing as we’re now more than a week past the final event of the season. It’s still early. The novelty of having a “weekend off” is still new to a lot of folks at this point, so it may seem kind of nice. But, give it a few more weeks. This time next month you’ll be saying to yourself; “I wish we were racing this weekend” For some folks, the off-season is just now getting kicked off as there were still other events to contend with this past weekend.
Quick Fill #38: This Week in GNCCNovember 12, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill.Round 13 is done and dusted. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but that’s a wrap on the 2020 GNCC Racing season. We made it through round 13 and got in a full season amidst one of the wildest years in the history of the world. Give yourself a pat on the back because this is an impressive feat and here’s to hoping that things get a little more normal in 2021. As for the final round, the Buckwheat 100 turned out to be pretty darn fun!
Quick Fill #37: This Week in GNCCOctober 29, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill.Wow. What an incredible weekend at Ironman. We say it time and time again that Ironman is the biggest and most popular event of the year, and time after time it continues to prove that point. This one was no different. Coming in at just 17 riders short of the previous record, this year’s Ironman was yet again one for the ages. While it didn’t hit the all-time record, it came pretty close and we did have the largest turnout of AM Bikes, Youth Bikes and Micro Bikes of all-time!
Quick Fill #36: This Week in GNCCOctober 22, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing once again, and boy is it time for a big one! This weekend, it’s time for Ironman. This is the biggest and most popular race of the entire season, and with good reason. The track is fun, when Mother Nature cooperates, it can potentially be really beautiful in Crawfordsville, Indiana this time of year, and of course there are a lot of people from all over that come out to Ironman. It seems like just about the entire town shows up to watch, and a lot of them also join in on the racing fun. On top of that, a ton of industry professionals make their way out as well. So, in short, it’s a really, really big deal!
Quick Fill #35: This Week in GNCCOctober 15, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. How about the Mason-Dixon? It turned out to be a bit on the dusty side and by Sunday afternoon, the silt made a few places look and feel a bit like Florida sand. Maybe I’m just an oddball but I actually kind of enjoy riding in the loose, silty dirt like that and while it hides some rocks and roots some folks will agree they’ll take that over the mud. Of course, I know quite a few of you would rather ride in the mud as well but hey, to each their own! Any weekend of racing, in any conditions is still better than doing anything else.
Quick Fill #34: This Week in GNCCOctober 8, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing? We’re ready to get this weekend’s Mason-Dixon GNCC off and rolling, and boy is it looking like a fun course. As usual, I’ll have a quick run down of what to expect coming up a little later in this edition of Quick Fill. This weekend also promises to be big as there’s an opportunity to wrap up a number of National Championships, but there are also a number of other riders who have been on fire lately who will be looking to continue their success. On top of this, this week we also made an announcement on the location of the final round!
Quick Fill #33: This Week in GNCCOctober 1, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. That was yet another great weekend of racing, was it not? It seems like the last several times we’ve visited Sunday Creek Raceway we’ve been dealt a poor hand with the weather but this time it was finally dry! In fact, it was really dry and we did have some dust to contend with but overall it was actually really, really good. For me, I felt like that was the best track I’ve ever ridden there and the conditions definitely helped in that. Not just because it was dry on the track but the fact that the layout felt a lot different than we’ve gotten used to at The John Penton.
Quick Fill #32: This Week in GNCCSeptember 25, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s time to go racing once again! This weekend we’re back at Sunday Creek Raceway, home of The John Penton GNCC, but this time we’re calling it the Burr Oak GNCC. Why call it Burr Oak? Well, that was the original name of the event when it was added to the schedule back in 1990. With it currently serving as the oldest event on the schedule, it only seemed fitting to honor the original name. Also, there were a number of times that the Burr Oak was held around this same time of the year. So, while The John Penton traditionally seems like a bit of a throwback race, this time is no different.
Quick Fill #31: This Week in GNCCSeptember 17, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. Was that a wild weekend of racing, or what? The Mountaineer GNCC proved to be tough and rugged, but even more interesting was the outcomes the event produced. With two riders claiming their first overall wins of the season, and both coming as somewhat as a surprise this proved to be one of the best races of the season and one of the best returns from summer break of all-time.
Quick Fill #30: This Week in GNCCSeptember 4, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. It’s almost time to get back into the swing of racing! This time next week we’ll be gathering at the Summit Bechtel Reserve for The Mountaineer GNCC, and it sounds like there’s a lot of you excited for the return of GNCC Racing. Actually, I’m sure there are some folks who are even just excited for the return of Quick Fill. Yes, it’s been a little bit since we’ve put one of these together because, well, the past month has been a whirlwind of happenings on our end.
Quick Fill #29: This Week in GNCCJuly 23, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. Summer break is officially underway as we’re now into our first full week, but for some the work never stops. Whether its racing other series, training, or just getting in some seat time, it seems like while there’s a break from GNCC, there’s really not a much of a break from being around our race machines. Of course, it’s not a break for our staff either as we’re neck deep in preparations for the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s. There’s a huge amount of work involved in making that event happen, and obviously this year has been even more challenging than normal.
Quick Fill #28: This Week in GNCCJuly 16, 2020Welcome to Quick Fill. Also, welcome to summer break. It’s almost seems hard to believe we’ve made it to the summer break. For some, it may feel like the time has flown by. For others, it may feel like it’s taken forever to get to this point. Either category you fall in, the break is here and we’ve now got a little time off before the series picks back up in September. For the majority of the GNCC staff, well, there’s really no break for us as we’re rolling head first into Loretta Lynn’s.
