Quick Fill #23: This Week in GNCCJuly 11, 2019Welcome to Quick Fill.
Summer break is finally here and although it’s a few weeks later than what we traditionally see, last weekend’s High Voltage GNCC was well worth the delay. It was a pretty interesting weekend to put it lightly. It started out with really good conditions, then the final lap of the 11AM ATV race saw rain fall on just the last three miles of the racecourse. The opening lap of the 2PM ATV race was pretty good, but then heavy rainfalls would absolutely saturate the facility making for a slippery ride. Another bit of rain on Saturday evening would leave some folks either dreading or very excited for Sunday morning.

Wow, was that a great weekend of racing or what? I heard more than a few people comment that this was among the best Snowshoe events they’ve attended and we really got lucky with great weather all weekend long. Snowshoe is a unique event all in itself, but for several years now it’s been plagued with rainy weather at some point in the weekend. Other than a shower Thursday evening, and a few sprinkles earlier in the week, this year’s event stayed as dry as Snowshoe can be… Of course, there will always be mud at Snowshoe!

It’s time to go GNCC Racing and this weekend we return to the toughest event of the season for the 13th annual Snowshoe GNCC. This year’s event promises to be yet another great one as a rugged course awaits competitors looking to take on the mountain. Of course, we’re also slammed busy getting this thing ready, so this week’s edition of Quick Fill will truly be quick as we’re full swing in putting the final touches on everything for the weekend.

Seven rounds are in the books as we’re now over halfway through the 2019 GNCC Racing season. It’s hard to believe that because it seems like just yesterday we were kicking the season off in the sands of Florida. They say time flies when you’re having fun, so there’s no doubt that we’re having fun. Now, if you’re not a big fan of muddy conditions then maybe you haven’t had quite as much fun but we’ve got our fingers crossed that these rainy conditions we’ve been faced with race after race will stay away. Next up is Snowshoe, and due to the numerous springs under the mountain there will always be mud there but here’s to hoping no additional rainfall comes on top of that!

It's been a wild week here in New York getting things ready for this weekend's Tomahawk GNCC. The track crew has been hard at it making sure there's a great course in store for this weekend, and a while we've gotten some rain Thursday evening, every other day this week has been really nice and a little bit of rain will add some good moisture to the soil. Fingers crossed that it doesn't rain anymore though!

It’s time to go GNCC Racing once again! This weekend we head to Ohio for the 30th annual John Penton GNCC. This is a pretty monumental weekend with this event turning 30 years old, which is definitely pretty cool to see and the venue is just full of history. Last week I discussed a bit about why we honor John Penton with the naming of this event, so if you missed that, make sure you check that out HERE because it’s pretty cool to be reminded of all the things John has done for the racing world.

X Factor is in the books! Rains leading up to the event led many folks to expect a mudder, but while there were definitely some tough and muddy areas, it definitely was not a full-blown mud race. By Sunday afternoon there were a lot of sections of the course that really began to tack up nice and while it was definitely soft and rutted out, the track got better as the weekend wore on. This led to some pretty good racing by the end of the weekend, and while it may not have been a tight battle for the bike win on Sunday, it had it’s own unique feel.

Yes, we ARE racing this weekend. It’s no secret that it’s been raining on and off out in Indiana but this weekend’s X Factor GNCC is still on. The good news is that the landowner, Russ Bellar, has put in a lot of work to make some good roads through the facility. There are nearly 4,000 truckloads of millings (that crushed up asphalt like you see at Ironman) through the field now, so getting in won’t be an issue. The grass in the fields is pretty wet and muddy, but out in the woods there’s dry dirt to be found in some places. So you can expect some wet conditions this weekend, but right now it’s not looking like the same kind of mudder we had in 2017.

Another week has flown by and we’ve officially logged four rounds of GNCC Racing through the 2019 season. It’s kind of hard to believe we’re already this far along as it seems like we just got started yesterday. Time flies when you’re having fun and next thing you know we’ll be rolling into the summer break. Speaking of which, we did get the schedule changes all set in stone a couple of weeks ago, so let’s discuss that real quick.

What a great weekend of racing we had at Steele Creek. It’s never ceases to amaze me how many people show up to enjoy a weekend of racing there, and it’s mind boggling how many people can fit into that place. Yes, we know it’s not perfect and there are some issues to sort out, but having a large crowd of racers and spectators alike can be a good problem to have because that means everyone is out enjoying a fun weekend of GNCC Racing.
Quick Fill #12: This Week in GNCCMarch 21, 2019Welcome to Quick Fill.
Wow. What a fun couple of weeks. We’ve finally gotten through the opening rounds of the season and saw some great racing along the way. Even better was the fact that we were greeted with some good weather for those rounds, which in return made for some great conditions out on the race track. Overall, we’re pretty lucky to have seen two excellent opening rounds and hopefully this is a sign of things to come throughout the rest of the 2019 GNCC Racing season.
Quick Fill #11: This Week in GNCCMarch 14, 2019Welcome to Quick Fill.
It’s time to go racing once again! There’s been an insane amount of rumors going around this week and they are all untrue and pretty ridiculous. To clear things up, we ARE racing this weekend, we ARE racing at The General and the track is NOT under water. In fact, it’s dry enough right now that when I’ve stopped to put up arrows my dust catches up to me, so a little bit of rain would actually help the track out a bit. They’re calling for scattered showers tomorrow (Friday) and if you’re not sure what that means, “scattered” means there will be small on and off showers throughout the day, which would be nice to help keep the dust down!
