- Tuesday Toolbox: Steward Baylor Jr.September 22, 2020The 2020 season has been a roller coaster ride for all of us, but perhaps nobody so much as Steward Baylor Jr. After coming up just short of the win at The General, he unexpectedly parted ways with his team, and missed the next five rounds. Besides the loss of a ride, there were some injuries and other issues that Baylor plans to address in a video project he and Mason Rader have been working on. After securing a one-race-at-a-time deal through AmPro Yamaha, Baylor came out swinging with something to prove at the Mountaineer, taking home the win and inspiring countless people in the process.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Grayson EllerSeptember 15, 2020Grayson Eller is the current Amateur overall points leader. I interviewed him prior to the summer break, but due to the hectic summer schedule here at Racer Productions, his interview never got posted, but late is better than never! He is 21 years old, from Salisbury, North Carolina. He also competes in the Pro-Am class in the ATV MX series – it is only recently that he began really focusing on GNCC racing, but so far he’s been pretty successful at it!
- Tuesday Toolbox: Ryder SigetySeptember 8, 2020Ryder Sigety hails from New Jersey, and currently races in the 65cc (10-11) bike youth class. Ryder had a bit of a late start to the season, missing the first four rounds of racing. However, since he began racing at round 5 in South Carolina he has clinched each class win. Ryder currently sits eighth in his classes points standings, but he is aiming to continue his winning ways this fall.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Jordan AshburnSeptember 1, 2020After eight rounds of racing in 2020, Jordan Ashburn currently finds himself third overall in the National Championship points standings. As the GNCC Series is set to return on September 12-13, Ashburn is looking to utilize his training during summer break and finally earn that overall podium finish he has been battling for all season. We caught up with Ashburn, and also got the details on his Tennessee Knock Out bike!
- Tuesday Toolbox: Tayla JonesAugust 18, 2020Multi-time GNCC WXC champion Tayla Jones has had a busy summer break. The Australian native has been living in and racing here in the states since 2017 and has been one of the most successful female off-road racers in recent memory. But she can do far more than win GNCCs, as she has proven in the last couple weeks.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Nate FerdererAugust 11, 2020Nate Ferderer is the epitome of the weekend warrior. The 28-year old from Minneapolis faces 18-hour-plus one-way drives for every race and is expected back at Hypertherm bright and early Monday morning, where he works as a mechanical engineer. Ferderer currently sits in fourth in the FMF XC3 class, especially impressive given his other obligations and the fact that this is his first year pursuing the GNCC series!
- Tuesday Toolbox: Zach OsborneJuly 21, 2020I had an uncle who raced motocross, so I was exposed to motorcycles from a very early age. I got my first bike when I was three years old and I began racing when I was about six. We started with local races then progressed on to amateur nationals.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Rachael ArcherJuly 14, 2020If you aren’t familiar with Rachael Archer, you haven’t been paying much attention this season. The eighteen-year-old from New Zealand is now in her second full year of GNCC racing. After some promising, but hit-or-miss results last year, Archer has really come into her own this season, finishing on the podium nearly every race. She rides for the AmPro Yamaha team, is currently sitting third in WXC points and just last weekend at High Voltage took home her first-ever WXC win!
- Tuesday Toolbox: Rich/Dickerson FamilyJuly 7, 2020GNCC Racing has always been a family sport, accessible to all ages. However, the Rich/Dickerson family, from Warsaw, Ohio, takes that to an extreme, with six GNCC ATV racers spread across three generations. The oldest, Kenny Rich SR, races in the Golden Masters (60+) class and is currently third in points. His two children are both racers as well: his son, Kenny Rich JR still races intermittently, in either Sportsman or Vet B. His daughter Amy and her husband, Dustin Dickerson, are former racers, but both stepped back from their own racing so that their children Raelynn and Bryson Dickerson could begin. They race in the MXC1 (5th in points) and MXC2 (4th in points) classes, respectively. I spoke primarily with Amy and Dustin, but also talked to Kenny and the Dickerson kids as well about their mutual passion for GNCC racing.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Brycen NealJune 30, 2020Brycen Neal took home the overall win at The Wiseco John Penton this weekend. It’s his second win in a row here, his first win of the season, and for the Ohio native, it’s always nice to win in front of the home state crowd. Though he had a rough start to the season with a 12th place at Big Buck, he still sits second in points.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Brody JohnsonJune 23, 2020The South Carolina based Johnson brothers have always been standouts in the GNCC series, but Brody Johnson is having an exceptional season even by those standards. He’s leading the 250A class and has won every Amateur Overall so far this season. He hopes to have a perfect season, something no other rider has accomplished yet. Either way, he’s certainly a rider to watch and the current favorite for Top Amateur this season.
- Tuesday Toolbox: Ricky RussellJune 16, 2020Ricky Russell was showing a lot of promise heading into the 2020 season. His switch to the Coastal Racing/Husqvarna team seemed to be agreeing with him, judging from the second and third place finishes he earned at the first two rounds. Unfortunately, he had a massive crash at the Bulldog GNCC, severing his femoral artery and breaking his hip. He got to the hospital in time to save both his life and his leg, but he is facing a long road to recovery. We talked about the new team, his season up until now, the injury itself, and when we can expect to see him back on the starting line at a GNCC.
