Professionals make up a very small percentage of our riders at GNCC. Sure they get the most attention, and why not, they’ve earned it! With that said, the large majority of our riders are amateurs and youth. Families that work all week, load up the RV and drive through the night just so they can be a part of GNCC. GNCC prides itself on being a family-friendly event. If you’ve ever been to a race you know it’s not just words, it’s reality.

We’ve featured a few of our Amateur riders but I thought it’d be a nice change up to show some love to our Youth riders! So this week we’re featuring Falyn Holcomb. Her answers are short and to the point. We talk racing, school, and my personal favorite… puppies. Enjoy!

GNCCRacing.com: Falyn, thanks for joining me today. Mom said you’re enjoying some Chick-fil-A right now, I see the race diet is in full effect. Let’s jump right into it, tell us about yourself, how old are you and how long have you been riding?

Falyn Holcomb: I started riding when I was three years old and I’m nine years old now. So I’ve been riding for as long as I can remember. I actually started riding on a dirtbike and switched to quads.

What motivated you to make the switch to ATVs?

I wrecked into a fence and then I wanted my first quad. I was done with the dirtbike.

I’d say it’s worked out pretty well in your favor to make the switch. You’ve done really well on the ATV at the GNCCs. What class are you racing this season?

I’m in the Girl’s Jr. (8-11) Class. It’s been a tough season, but I’ve been having fun. Been able to get a few podiums but still looking for that first class win.

You’ll get it whipped! You’ve got some stiff competition in the class, lot of big names. Do you have a favorite track we race?

Steele Creek used to be my favorite but then we stopped racing there. I haven’t really picked out a new favorite yet. I loved the mud at Steele Creek. So any track that has mud, I enjoy it the most.

Let’s talk life outside of racing. You love dogs, I found this out because when my wife worked in Registration at GNCC you were Dolly Pearl Waynes biggest fan. You recently got your own new puppy, right?

Yup! Her name is Roxy, she’s a Blue Heeler. I have another dog named Bubba. Bubba is a Black Lab. Sometimes they get to come to the races with us. I know we are bringing Roxy to the Hoosier GNCC in a couple weeks. She can meet Dolly is Wifey Waynes comes to race.

You play some other sports too. Tell us about that.

Yeah, I play basketball too. It’s going really well. Racing is my favorite though.

You Home School, how’s that going for you? I’m guessing you’re doing better than me. I went to school to hang out with my friends. My grades came second to my social life, can you imagine that?

I do really well in school. I’ve always gotten good grades.

What are you goals at the GNCC level?

I really want to get a first place finish right now. But a Championship would be really nice too.

Do you have a favorite rider at GNCC?

Khyler Davis, she runs the same class as me and we’re good friends. I also like Kate Osburn in the WXC, Adam McGill and Jarrod McClure.

You’re young, you’ve got your whole life in front of you and I know you’re just enjoying being a kid right now, but here’s the tough question every kid gets asked, what do you want to be when you grow up?

I’d like to be a Veterinarian. I’d love to work with all animals. But dogs and cats are my favorite. We have one cat at home too.

Now I know your dad races too, does anyone else race in your family?

Yeah, dad (Cody Holcomb) races in the Vet A (30+) Class and my Nana used to race too. She raced dirt bikes when she was younger. She raced motocross.

Wow! So you come from a rich line of racers, I like it! Do you get to help dad in the pits on race day?

No, I mostly just cheer him on.

Alright, one last thing and I’ll let you get back to your Chick-fil-A, I know you’ve got a lot of support out there. Who would you like to thank?

Mom and Dad, CLH Logging Inc, FLH Trucking LLC, Mid-State Chevy, Mid-State Ford, Northside Automotive, Hetrick Racing, Fly Racing, Kenda Tires, Pro Graphix-x, JSR Motorsports, Atlas, Off Road Vixens, DP Brakes, Fasst Company, Ryno Power, DRR, Go Fast Girls, ODI Grips, Slick Products, Go Pro, Nine2 and OGIO.
