Liqui Moly Bet Racing - GNCC Race Report

The last round of the GNCC Series took us to Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, IN. The riders and teams were greeted by uncommonly nice weather. Temperatures were in the 70s and sunny. Unfortunately, the area hadn’t gotten rain for over a month so an extremely dusty race was expected. As the flag flew in XC2 class both Beta riders, Jon Johnson and Evan Smith, got great jumps. Johnson pulled the holeshot and Smith was a close 3rd place. However, the dust proved to be a factor and both riders lost some time on lap 2, before stopping in the pit for fuel and filter. Johnson collided with a tree which sent him back in the pack. Smith was done in by the dust clogging his air filter. In the XC3 race, Jay Lipscomb got out to a great start and continued to run up front all day putting his Factory 125 RR on the box in third place.
Results:
Evan Smith - 12th Place XC2
Jon Johnson - 9th Place XC2
Lay Lipscomb - 3rd Place XC3
Evan Smith
Factory 250 RR
"It was a tough day at Ironman. We got out to a great start running top 3-5 but eventually, the bike was a victim of the dust that really hampered our day."
Jon Johnson
Factory 250 RR
"I started the day off strong getting in the woods first and leading a little but ended up running into some problems around lap 3 but I was able to still finish up with a 9th place in XC2"
Jay Lipscomb
Factory 125 RR
"I'm happy to close out the GNCC season with a podium finish at four of the last five rounds. It definitely gets me excited for next year and to chase that first GNCC win."
