Zack Ponder Report - Snowshoe

Wednesday, July 3, 2013 | 9:50 AM

This weeks race was at beautiful Snowshoe, WV. Never knowing what to expect there, I just went with what I know, its wet, hilly and rocky. Starting on row 11 of our once a year format, row 10 took off and 10 seconds later and to the woods my Yamaha YZ 85 went. Today was important to have good traction and as usual my KENDA tires with fresh Flat Tire Defenders, and some secret prep work that the guys at AMPRO YAMAHA let me in on, thanks Randy Hawkins and Sonny Morabito!! After getting off to a 3rd place start, we got to the hardest part of the track and I was able to get to 2nd. I was within striking distance of 1st and with 2 laps left  I had to take my XBRAND GOGGLES off and I was taking those little rocks to the face and lost time. Getting some fresh goggles for the last lap, I made my push. Thats were I crashed on a down hill pretty bad, and somehow got up and was able to take the checkard flag in 2nd. Having what they said was a concussion, The GNCC Podium is a blurr, but Im good now and I feel lucky to have been able to keep 2nd. GNCC gave us an awesome track and I cant wait to get back there. A 2nd and 8th overall is not the overall Im working for but it keeps me right there in the championship hunt.

Just really want to thank Obermeyer Yamaha/Raines Riding University/OffroadViking.com race team for all their support. Also, YAMAHA,AMPRO YAMAHA, Fly Racing, KENDA TIRES, Factory Connection, FMF, Yamaha Generators, XBRAND GOGGLES, FTD, GE, REKLUSE, Yamalube, GYTR, Raines Racing, IMS, WIESCO, Garnae, sbs, sunstar, enduro engineering, accelerade as well as our soldiers that protect us. Oh yea,I always remember something else, thanks to my mechanic, Sonny Morabito for hooking my Yamaha up every race and all the me and women with AMPRO YAMAHA  that allow me to hang out and ask questions.
