Tuesday Toolbox: Devon FeehanSeptember 17, 2019Devon Feehan is a 19 year-old pro ATV rider from Windsor, New York – a mere 10 minutes from the Black Sky GNCC last weekend. Feehan has struggled with a shoulder injury all season, and was stoked to finally be back on the ATV just in time for his hometown race. He earned a respectable XXX finish, and had been as high as the top three during the early part of the race. -
Tuesday Toolbox: "Big John" KnoxSeptember 3, 2019Big John (John Knox), is a very familiar face to anyone who has been around the GNCC series. He grew up in Pennsylvania and has been with Racer Productions twenty-four years now. One of his most visible roles at the GNCC is helping to direct traffic and parking, although as the security director for GNCC racing he has many other roles and responsibilities. In addition to the GNCC series, he also handles security at the Pro Motocross races and Loretta Lynn’s. I finally got the chance to sit down and interview Big John several months ago at the High Voltage GNCC – he is a very busy guy on race weekend! -
Tuesday Toolbox: Joseph CunninghamAugust 27, 2019Joseph Cunningham has had an incredible season! Not only did he wrap up the YXC1 title and win every single GNCC so far, he also beat Steward Baylor’s record for consecutive overall wins! Cunningham is 15 years old from Murray City, Ohio. He rides for Tely Energy on a KTM, and will be moving up to the afternoon race next season. Keep an eye on this young rider, as it looks like he has a bright future in racing. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Luke ShepherdAugust 20, 2019At High Voltage, Luke Shepherd was able to win his first-ever Amateur Overall. The 28-year-old ATV racer from Marion, Ohio, has overcome a lot to get to this point. A devastating injury while racing motocross temporarily derailed his career, and this season hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park for him either. However, refusing to give up and having a great support crew has made all the difference. Things are definitely looking up for Shepherd! -
Tuesday Toolbox: Tanner CollinsJuly 16, 2019At the High Voltage GNCC, Tanner Collins was able to wrap up the 200 B class Championship. Though the sixteen-year-old from Crooksville, Ohio, has been involved in GNCC racing since he was on little bikes, this is his first-ever GNCC championship! Next year Collins plans to move up to the 200 A class, with the eventual goal of someday becoming a pro rider. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Snowshoe Mountain ResortJuly 9, 2019Snowshoe Mountain Resort is home to the toughest GNCC race in the series and one of the hardest races in the country. We’re all familiar with the event, but how much do you know about the facility itself? I interviewed the Public Relations and Social Media Manager for Snowshoe Mountain, Shawn Cassell, in the hopes of learning something about the mountain besides the size of the FMF Powerpoint and the depth of Howard’s Hole -
Tuesday Toolbox: Lucas GroundsJuly 2, 2019Fourteen is a little young to be racing a full-size bike against adults. But that hasn’t stopped Lucas Grounds from excelling at it. Grounds comes from Martinsville, Indiana, and is in his first full season racing big bikes. The last two GNCCs, he has not only won the 125 B/C class in the AM race, but also has landed on the overall AM podium, beating both Sportsman A and WXC riders on his way there. He is the current points leader in his class and hopes to wrap up the championship early so he can try out some PM races later in the season. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Megan ShepherdJune 11, 2019Megan Shepherd made history last round at the Tomahawk by becoming the first ATV rider to ever win both a WMX and a WXC race! Originally from Splendora, TX, Shepherd is now based out of Marion, OH. The 28-year-old has been running the series for several years now, starting when her husband Luke began chasing the series, but it is really in this last season that she has came into her own. With four other podiums and now finally a win this season, Shepherd is a real threat in the WXC class! -
Tuesday Toolbox: Walker FowlerJune 4, 2019Walker Fowler has already come a long way, but according to him he still has a lot further to go. Last weekend’s Tomahawk GNCC marked his 50th overall ATV win, an impressive number by any standards! It moves him into third place on the all-time ATV wins leaderboard as well. I talked with Walker about how he got here and where he wants to go with the rest of his career. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Nikki RussellMay 29, 2019Fifteen-year-old Nikki Russell is this week’s Tuesday Toolbox. She hails from Jamestown, Tennessee and is one of the most promising up-and-coming female off-road riders in the GNCC series, if not the country. In addition to winning every single Girls class race she’s entered this year, she also placed second last year in the Tennessee Knock Out, one of the most difficult races in the country. Keep your eye on Russell, we expect that she will be doing great things over the course of her riding career! -
Tuesday Toolbox: Stewart Boys Racing FamilyMay 14, 2019The Stewart family has only been involved in GNCC racing since 2016, but I would be surprised if you haven’t seen their tent or encountered one of their riders during the ATV races on Saturday. Jason Stewart founded Stewart Boys Racing both to expose his kids to good role models and provide support to talented racers who were in need of support and sponsorship. His kids, the brothers for which the team is named, are both talented youth riders. Cooper, the oldest, races in YXC1, while his younger brother, Charlie, has won every race in YXC2 so far this year. -
Tuesday Toolbox: Austin LeeMay 7, 2019Austin Lee recently earned his first XC2 podium of the season at Camp Coker, then backed it up with a second podium finish in his home state of Indiana at the X Factor GNCC. The 22-year-old from Bedford, Indiana is currently riding for the Phoenix Honda team, a newcomer to GNCC racing. Judging from his recent results, the new team seems to be agreeing with him!
