Ironman Raceway hosted over 2,400 riders in the course of the two-day Ironman GNCC event, but at the conclusion of today’s 1 p.m. pro bike race it was FMF/KTM Factory Racing’s Kailub Russell who stood atop of the podium and earned his 40th career overall win.

The top spot on the box quickly became anyone’s to take with the two-time National Champion and N-Fab/Maxxis/AmPro Yamaha/Lonestar/MXP’s Walker Fowler missing from the start line due to a lingering issue that occurred at a local hare-scramble last weekend.

According to the legend, Coastal Racing team owner, Scott Kiger was in Spain and got to talking to “a guy.” The guy turned out to be 4-time World Enduro Champion, Paul Edmondson. Paul was in Spain because his son, Jack, was racing on the Junior Trophy Team for Great Britain. Paul mentioned that he “sure would like to get his son over to the United States to race a GNCC.”
