Welcome to Quick Fill.

It’s race week once again and this time we’re in for a great one with the Camp Coker Bullet GNCC in Society Hill, South Carolina. If you’ve never been to the Camp Coker event before, then you’ve really been missing out. This is a beautiful piece of property with tons of fishing and swimming when you’re not out on the track, or just a great place to kick back and relax. Oh, and the track itself is really cool as well.

Moree’s Sportsman’s Preserve plays host to this event and when we’re not here for GNCC, they’re full of other outdoorsman type activities such as their famous sporting clays, which you can see stands for all over the property. It’s also no stranger to racing as Hank Moree was a top amateur motocrosser for Team Green back in the day (and was actually the first kid to ever race a KX60!) and the Camp Coker Motocross track once called Moree’s Sportsman’s Preserve home… And on top of that, former Pro Motocross and Supercross star Larry Ward had a practice Supercross track on the property, and the racecourse actually goes over some of the worn-down jumps.

There are also the usual amount of vendors on site at Camp Coker, so if you need any last minute parts, advice, service work, or just want to snag some cool swag, everyone comes out in full force for this event as well. And if you’re KTM, Husky or GasGas rider who might need a some OEM parts or a little technical help, don’t forget that the KTM Trackside Support rig is here and all GNCC events for that matter. These guys are here to help when needed, so don’t forget to stop by and see them if needed.

Now lets talk about the race track. This year’s course is a little bit different and while it utilizes a lot of the same sections we’ve ran in the past, they’re linked together differently and some of them look and feel completely different than this time last year. You’ll be starting on the old motocross track, and towards the end of the full loop, just before the ten mile mark. You’ll head off the motocross track and work your way around a couple ponds and up into the woods. The first section of woods will tighten up at first, then open up to some passing opportunities as you head towards the finish line.

You’ll bypass the finish off the start and head out on your full lap. The first mile is a mix of woods and trackside pitting sections before you drop into some faster woods with a number of different lines, then pop into a zigzagging field section and back into some faster woods to the two-mile mark. These woods will continue around and eventually pop into another field section and into some pine trees at the three-mile mark. You’ll be inside these pine trees for a bit, then another field and back into the woods again.

This section is a little tighter in spots but has multiple lines for passing, and all of this continues along past the four-mile mark and through the planted pine trees for a bit. About the 4.5 you’ll head out into a section that was clear cut several years ago. The pine trees grow incredibly fast here, so this section is filling in nicely which slows things down a bit as you zigzag your way to the five-mile mark. This old logged section is about a mile long from the 4.5 to the 5.5 and just continues to get better and better each year.

Once you finish that section, its back into some fun woods over to the six-mile mark and eventually back into another little field section for a bit that will lead you into the section of property that was new a couple of years ago. This section starts about 6.5 and will be tight for the ATVs, and even a bit on the slower side for the bikes as well. There’s lots of turning in here as is continues on to the seven, then the eight, and ends at the nine-mile mark. However, the bike racers will add on an additional mile in this section as there’s a really fun single track section in here, including a PM bike only piece that is completely new.

At the nine, you’ll work your way over to Big Bird’s Supercross track and into the Monster Mile. This will eventually bring you through some tighter pine trees and back over to that woods section where you started. Overall, the ATV races will be just around 11 miles and the bike races will be just a hair over 12 miles. Conditions are looking great and even with the rain forecasted on Friday we stayed on as much high ground as possible, so it should be a great weekend.

We’re still putting in those final finishing touches to get ready for the weekend, so we’ll end this week’s edition of Quick Fill here. Enjoy your weekend and we’ll see you in South Carolina!
