SUBJECT: COMPETITION BULLETIN 2020-10:
Horns Allowed for WXC Competitors
Rule D.7 of the 2020 GNCC Pro Competition Rules permits competitors in the 4x4 Pro class only to utilize horns to alert competitors that are about to be overtaken. This rule was deemed necessary given the superior speed and ability of the 4x4 Pro competitors as compared to other competitors in the morning race, to give warning in advance of being overtaken so they can be passed safely.
The WXC competitors in both the ATV and Bike divisions have displayed similar superior speed and ability and likewise would benefit from the use of horns to alert competitors about to be overtaken.
Accordingly, Rule D.7 is amended as follows:
For the 4x4 Pro and WXC classes only, no more than one (1) horn device is permitted for alerting competitors that are about to be overtaken. Horns must be activated by a button and not a switch. Air/electric horns are permitted; Sirens are prohibited. Horn volume and tone will be at the sole discretion of GNCC Racing. Otherwise, no horns, bells or other sound devices permitted in any other class.
Although mid-season rule changes are rare, in the interest of safety, this change is deemed appropriate.
