John Penton Round 9 of the GNCC took place this weekend in Millfield, Ohio where weather was in the low 80’s with slight humidity. Raing on Friday made course conditions good for traction in some sections due to deep clay and slick and dry in others. Each lap was just under 14 miles with the top riders averaging about 34 minutes per loop.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thad Duvall jumped off the line and rounded the first turn in third place. He was on the throttle to quickly make a pass into second place and by race mile 1 he was in the lead position. Battle for the lead position ensued for the next few laps. On the final lap, Duvall made the charge for the lead position at race mile six and never looked back. He crossed the checkered, physically first but a call by officials would dock him a position, causing him to ultimately finish second.
"I have been focusing on each race as a whole and not worrying about the point’s championship." reported Duvall. "I felt like this round would be a tough one for me but my FX 350 pulled through and I rode to the finish which is what I was looking for."
Josh Strang started round 9 in a good position, rounding the first bend in fourth. He was bunched up racing between the third and sixth place position before a mechanical issue would take him out of the race in lap four.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Thad Duvall and Josh Strang will make their way next to Cross Fork, Pennsylvania for Round 5 of the National Enduro.
