Obermeyer Race Report From Steele Creek
Tuesday, March 31, 2015 | 2:00 PM
The Obermeyer Suzuki riders are sitting pretty with 3 rounds under our belt in this super competitive 10 race GNCC Series.
The super cool and very challenging course laid out by Racer Productions, tested all facets of a racers level of readiness. The start it’s self is a challenge as it is a few switchbacks before a steep up hill into the woods. Cole’s start was less than perfect, back of the pack, but allowing him to miss the 1st turn mayhem, thankfully his passing skills and speed have helped overcome poor starts. Cole would battle hard and move up into 10th at the end of lap one. After 3 hours of racing Cole would get a 6th place on the day.
Jake would get a little rattled on the line by having his bike not acting like it wanted to start when the row ahead took off. With no time to attempt to fire it off before he got the green flag. Hoping his ride would light to life, the green flag flew and his bike started and away he went. He would find him self on the ground in turn one and then once up and going back on the ground in turn two. With a lot of racing left to do Jake would have to put his head down and go to work. Jake would come around after his first lap of 11 miles sitting 13th in class and charging hard. Jake would continue to set a blazing pace and work his way into second place by the end of 3 hours of racing.
After 3 rounds of racing Jake sits 1st in Championship points and Cole sits 3rd.
We are able to race due to the wonderful support of these fine companies.
