GNCCRacing.com: How's it going today?
Alex Beroth: Today has been going great so far!
How did you get started racing?
I got started racing when I was four years old, riding a JR50. My dad got me into it, and we have never stopped going to races since.
This year you've stepped up to the 250-A class. How's that been going?
The jump to the 250-A class was tough. It's had its ups and downs. I'm just trying to learn and improve each and every race.
What's the competition like in 250-A?
There's a lot of strong competition all the way through the class. Everyone is fast at the A class level, and everyone is working hard to win.
You're sitting 4th in class points right now though, how's that feel?
Fourth place in points normally wouldn’t be something to be too excited about, but with the caliber of guys ahead of me, I'm proud of my fourth place standing. I'm going to have to work hard and finish well to defend it.
What would it take to jump up and challenge those top 3 guys?
It's going to take hard work during the week and constant improvement to be able to keep up with those guys. They are lightning fast, and I would love to be able to run with them.
So how have you spent your summer break?
I've spent my summer riding, racing, and training, but only when I'm not lifeguarding, or working around the house.
How did it feel to snag an overall win at the Mountain Man XC?
Grabbing the overall at the Mountain Man XC was really cool, especially because I was able to do it from the second row. It was my first real overall win since getting off of a mini bike a few years ago. It was a great race, and I'd recommend that everyone will give it a try next year.
What are your goals for the rest of 2014?
My goals for the rest of 2014 are to get a few more top three finishes in 250-A, and defend my 4th place position in points. Also I would like to get to where I can hang and battle with the guys in the top three.
What's it going to take to make that happen?
Definitely going to take a lot of hard work, both on and off the bike. Of course, a bit of luck will help too.
Do you have any plans in mind for 2015 yet?
In 2015 I'm planning on staying where I am and trying to win a class championship in 250-A.
What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
In the future I want win an Amateur Overall championship, an XC2 championship, and then eventually an XC1 overall championship.
Alright, before we wrap this up, who would you like to thank?
I'd like to thank my family and the Lord first off. I'd also like to thank Jason Raines, Trip Miller, Buster Yarbrough, Dale Folwell, Marc Hilton and Motovations Suspension, Powersport Grafx, TM Designworks, Enduro Engineering, Leatt, Gaerne, Rekluse, FMF, Bell Helmets, EKS Brand Goggles, IMS, all the folks at NCHSA and everyone else who has supported me.
