Mike Witkowski has been on a tear through the last 2 rounds of GNCC Racing, taking back to back wins in the ultra competitive 250-A class and also taking overall amateur honors at Snowshoe. We caught up with Mike to talk about his 2014 season and more.

GNCCRacing.com: How's it going today?
Mike Witkowski: It's going great! Just hanging out down in North Carolina right now.

Sounds fun! Have you been working out the soreness from Snowshoe yet?
(Laughs) Well, still feeling a little rough and sore. But not as sore as I thought I would be.

You had a pretty stellar ride at Snowshoe this weekend, tell us how it went.
Yeah the day started out pretty rough, I fell and got stuck a lot the first lap. Then after the gas stop I picked better lines and flowed with the track a lot better. This was the first year I've ever raced Snowshoe on a big bike. It was definitely a tough track but all in all I had fun riding my dirt bike. I was very happy to get the win and top amateur before the break.

How did it feel to take the top amateur spot?
It was a great feeling. It tells me that my hard work is paying off. It's just a great feeling!

And that's 2 wins in a row for you, what have you been doing different the past two races?
Well I've mainly been sick with Mono the whole year, and I finally fully recovered from it before the John Penton. So just being healthy was the main thing. But I've definitely been working really hard on fitness and nutrition.

The 250-A class is definitely full of competition this year, what's it like racing with those guys?
Yeah there is definitely a lot of good talent in the 250-A class. We all push each other really hard. It's always fun racing good talented riders for the win and top amateur.

And you're sitting 3rd in points behind two of those tough competitors, what's it going to take to challenge them?
I think it'll mainly going to take good finishes. They’re both really great riders. So just getting top 3 and class wins is what it'll take.

What do you hope to accomplish through the rest of this season?
My goal is to keep getting class wins and top amateurs. But I really want to get into the top 10 overall. It'll be tough, but it's possible.

Do you have any plans for 2015 yet?
I'm not totally positive on what my plans are for 2015 yet. I'm definitely going to race the GNCC circuit again though.

What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
I hope to accomplish a 250-A championship, and then eventually I hope to do well in XC2.

What's it going to take to make that happen?
It's going to take a lot of hard work and dedication. But also being healthy will be the main thing.

Alright before we wrap this up, who would you like to thank?
I would mainly like to thank my Mom and Dad. They do so much for me. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be where I am today. Also want to thank Fly Racing, Maxxis Tires, Enduro Engineering, EKS Brand, Stuk MX, Eckerman Enterprises, Shoei Helmets, Forma Boots, Frazier Motorsports, Mika Metals, TeamAC, Coby Smith, DT-1 filters, Monster Army, Ankle Savers, SRT, Braaap Nutrition, CarbSport, KTM, Blake's Barber Shop, Evans Coolant, FMF, and my whole family for being there for me through my racing career.
