Brycen Neal is currently holding the points lead in the College A class and has put in an impressive season logging 6 wins so far. With 3 races to go his chances are looking good for a title. We caught up with Brycen to find out more.

GNCCRacing.com: How's it going today?
Brycen Neal: Oh, pretty good! Managed to survive another day of school (laughs)

For those who don't know you, tell us a little about yourself.
Well, I’m from the little town of Bidwell, Ohio. I’m 17 years old and a senior in high school. I have, to me, the best family a kid could ask for. I have two dogs named Maxxis and Browndog, and some really great friends. I’m a typical teenage boy”¦ I love anything with a motor, food, and of course girls (laughs) I’m usually mellow and all smiles before the races, but when the green flag drops, it’s all business!

How did you get started racing?
It all started when I got my very first dirt bike, which was the ultra-fast PW50 when I was 5 years old. My dad is the one who pushes racing in the family today, but back in the day it was momma Neal who took me racing. I raced dirt bikes until I got to the 65 level, and dad got me a four wheeler. That’s when I fell in love. I wore out 4 of those Honda 90’s, and my first woods race was actually the first GNCC Youth Quad race ever in 2005 at the Ironman, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Time sure does fly.

So Unadilla was pretty good for you! Tell us how it went.
Unadilla is one of my favorite tracks on the circuit so I felt good going into it. I got a good jump on the start but got hit in the butt in the first turn, pushed wide and was swallowed by the huge class we had. I started picking people off, then Landon Wolfe and I hooked up and started the chase for lead group. I couldn’t seem to get in the grove for the first half of the race, but then we caught sight of Chad Jones and finally caught up. We all three came out on the motocross together, and then it got really fun. I made my move and put the hammer down and it all paid off in the end.

Wow! Sounds like a fun race. How has the rest of your 2012 season been going?
My whole 2012 season has been awesome. I had three races where I had mechanical issues, but I worked hard to make up for it and I’m really happy so far. Locally, I’ve been running the Mid America Cross Country series which is in Indiana and I really enjoy that, all the tracks are like the ironman which is perfect to me.

With 6 wins already this season, what else do you hope to accomplish?
I hope to accomplish a top three finish at Powerline Park. That’s what it will take to wrap up my championship and it’s in my home state with a lot of hometown friends. But knowing me, I want nothing more than to go out on top. Then “if” I accomplish my goal, I’ll be running those green number plates. I’d like to move up and get that experience, and then who knows, with a little luck I might end up on the podium hopefully.

You've got the points lead with 3 races to go, how's that feel?
It feels great! I believe hard work pays off and I’m glad the program I’ve got going for me is working. I know that every other rider that I line up against has put in his time too and I respect each and every one of them and I’m glad I can call them my friends.

What will it take to stay in the points lead?
I just need to get a good starts, stay smart, and just have fun. The pressure is on, but I like the feeling of it. At Unadilla I was waving and kicking my leg out to Landon and giving thumbs up to Chad and it just makes it so much more fun when everyone gets along and wants to have a little fun too.

How do the final rounds suit you?
Power Line and the Ironman are two of my favorite tracks ever. They flow really good to me and I always enjoy racing them. Power Line has bad and great memories for me. 2010 I broke my femur, 2011 I locked up my championship and put the 300 on the podium so we’ll see how it plays out. Loretta’s, well, let’s hope for the best (laughs)

How do you expect to do at those rounds?
The last three rounds I’d really like to do great. Every time I go to the line I expect nothing less from myself than to win. Losing is part of the game and every time it happens, it’s back to the drawing board to see what I have to do to push myself to become greater to win.

Do you have any plans for 2013 yet?
The plan for 2013 is to have those green number plates, hopefully be successful and be a championship contender down the stretch.

What do you hope to accomplish in the future of your racing career?
This is a big question for me. I think and day dream about racing Borich, Fowler, McGill, McClure, Kiser, Bithell, and everyone else. Of course a kid has his dreams of being number one someday. I’d love that more than anything in the world than to accomplish that, but I have a lot of learning, work, and getting my butt busted by those guys to go through before that would ever be possible.

Alright, before we wrap this up, who would you like to thank?
First off I’d like to thank my dad, mom, and sister. They are so much support and are always there for me no matter what. The whole Derisi Racing Squad; Santo, his wife Heather, David, James, and Luke Reeves. Eric and Frank Hoyland, the Henthorn family, and the Ahart family. David Crane at DC Cycles has me a great strong, reliable motor and has done countless work for me this year and I really appreciate it Dave. Team Woodhead, David and Angie Bayless, the S.I.C.C. team, those catbirds treat me like family and have been there for me all year as well. I’d also like to thank all the Team Derisi sponsors as well. Leatt, Rath Racing, Fox Shox, GBC Tires, IMS Products, HMF, HiPer Technology, Power Bar, GPR, Fasst Co, DC Cycle, Wiseco, RG Honda, Twin Air, Rekluse, Dirtworks, Tireballs, DP Brakes, G4 Graphics, PowerMadd, Motion Pro, Quad Tech, Antigravity Batteries, RPM, Outerwears, Bell Helmets, Spider Grips, Silkolene, Moose Racing, Scott Goggles and Liquid Performance.
