2009 Mountain Ridge GNCC
Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet by Fastway
The Off-Camber, Pro-Moto Billet/Fastway Performance, Klim Gear, Rekluse Clutch, Yamaha Race Team headed to Somerset Pennsylvania for the Mountain Ridge GNCC this past weekend. With a full roster of riders, we were out to continue the good start to the season.
We arrived at the track Saturday afternoon to blue skies, as the ATV racers crossed the line, the heavens opened and we all began to think we were in for another wet race. Luckily it was a short lived storm, which did the track no harm as it made the conditions near perfect for the Sunday bike action. Randy Mastin and Amanda Mastin raced in the morning event. Randy finished 3rd in the Masters A class and 13th Overall. Disappointed to be passed two corners from home for second, Randy was otherwise happy with his trouble free ride. Randy is currently holding 2nd in the Overall Standings. Amanda, once again proved to be the strongest in the women's class. Another class win, and a creditable 47th overall, puts her in control of the series points as we head towards the second half of the year.
The track crew added some knarly rock gardens and fresh trail which made the pm race around 13.5 miles. Morgan Moss lined up in the 250 B Class, and after a good opening lap through he had some mechanical issues which put him out of the race. Disappointed not to finish Morgan is still in the Overall points lead of his class.
Duane Conner rode the Vet A and once again showed his class to take another well deserved win. Finishing 38th Overall for the day he currently holds down second in points. "The fast rocky trails were not really to my liking but I had an uneventful race, things went ok today, after a good start I was able to get into a good pace and stay out of trouble through the tougher parts of the track".
Our English rider Rudy Austin was disappointed not to keep his top three finish record for the year after finishing 4th in class and 88th overall for the day. "After falling in the rocks on lap one I needed to stop for fresh gloves as I couldn't hold on due to mud. Then on lap 2 the trail guys cut out the nasty mud section that had developed in the woods... just after they let me get stuck in a deep hole..!! It took me 2-3 minutes to get the bike out but, too many people got past. The track just didn't allow for too much time to be made up, so really I was lucky to get what I did..!!" Rudy still holds 3rd in the class points.
The team will be headed for Rio Grande for the OMA nationals this coming weekend, followed by round 8 of the GNCC series at Millfield Ohio in three weeks, pray for no more mud.
