Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet/Fastway Race Report GNCC Round 6

This past weekend was Round 6 of the GNCC Series held in Millfield, Ohio. The weekend started out with showers on Friday evening and ended in heavy rains that lasted throughout the whole day on Sunday. Due to such miserable conditions, almost every race throughout the weekend was cut short either by time or trail length.

Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet/Fastway was represented at the Penton GNCC with two riders, Duane Conner and Mandi Mastin. Duane has been out much of the first part of the season due to injury, but he returned to action this weekend, hopeful that he could salvage a good ride in the muddy conditions. That is what he did. Duane started the race off strong, by rounding the first corner in 1st place. When he came in for goggles and gloves on the first lap he explained, "It's gnarly out there. Scott Summers and I got lost somehow...spectators pointed us up a new trail because the original trail was not passable, but we couldn't figure out where to go." During the first lap, racers were greeted with more rain showers which continued throughout most of the race. Duane finished the race strong, 4th place in the Vet A class and 31st overall. Duane commented after the race, "I'm happy with my finish. The course is so gnarly out there. There are lines going everywhere and its hard to figure out where you were suppose to go and where the original trail is. I got lost a couple of times today. I'm just happy to finish this race. I know that my conditioning and training is off from being down the last couple of months, so that is something that I know I need to work on. But other than that, it was fun riding today".

Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet/Fastway rider Mandi Mastin had another good day. Mandi debuted this weekend on the Yamaha WR 250. With not much practice time on the bike, she came out strong and led the way after the first couple of turns to the finish. "I had fun riding the WR250 today. It is amazing how the bike just tracts right up muddy nasty hills. Rather than having wheel spin in muddy conditions like the YZ125 might have had today, the WR250 has traction anywhere. Because I don't have much time on it, the weight of the bike and the mud did affect me a little. But I'm confident that the more I ride the WR250, the more I'm going to like the bike and be up to the speed that I am on the 125". Mandi's 1st place today gives her 5 out of 6 wins in the series and extends her lead by 15 points.

Masters A rider Randy Mastin sat this weekend out due to injury. Randy is looking forward to being back on the bike here in the next couple of weeks.

Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet/ Fastway is proud to announce an addition to the team, XC2 Lites Johnny Barber. Team Off Camber Racing will be supporting Johnny Barber with Pro Moto Billet and Fastway products for the GNCC Series and select OMA Series races. Johnny Barber had an excellent ride this weekend in Millfield earning 9th in the XC2 Lites class and 22nd Overall. John is currently standing in 7th place in the class only 6 points out of the top 5.

Team Off Camber Racing had some more excitement this past week. Team member Cody Mastin has been out for the whole season due to injury. For those of you that didn't know, Cody was involved in a life threatening accident on November 3rd last year. Over the last 6 months, Cody has progressed rapidly and decided to throw his leg over a bike last week.

Granted, his ride was only here at the shop around the yard for a couple of minutes, but that was enough for all us to see that he is making progress and will be back in action soon, "My leg felt pretty good on the bike today. Hopefully, by the end of summer the doctors will release me for riding and I can start practicing. My goal is to be ready for the start of the 2009 season". Good luck Cody!!

The next race for Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet/Fastway team is May 18, 2008 in Rio Grande, Ohio, which is round 3 of the OMA Series.
