Rain the previous days led to the track conditions being rough, but as Sunday approached, the weather cleared and racing conditions improved. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Josh Strang started the season with a two race sweep. Strang took off the line with a mid-pack start. Not long after, about mile 5, he moved into 5th with the competition in his sights.
