Welcome to Quick Fill. 

With the banquet done and dusted, that completely closes the book on the 2022 GNCC Racing season. We’ve talked and talked about this, but it doesn’t hurt to mention it one more time… 2022 was pretty wild! It arguably had to be one of the most exciting seasons in the history of GNCC Racing and with two first-time champions, bike and ATV, both coming for the first time ever, it’s going to be pretty hard to top the historical significance of the 2022 GNCC season. 

Last weekend’s banquets were a good time, although they definitely took a long time to finish. We know there are some concerns with running late into the night and there are already some internal discussions on our end to make some changes for next year that will hopefully shorten things up a bit. So, keep an eye and ear out for some possible changes before next year’s banquets. Anyway, if you skipped out on the banquet then you definitely missed some fun! Even with the long hours, everyone really enjoyed themselves and like I always say, it’s cool for everyone to get together away from the racetrack. 

Now it’s time to turn our attention to the 2023 season and at this point, it will be blasting off before we know what happened. The good news is we’re just about ready to roll with everything, minus a few details here and there. The schedule is mostly set, the rules and new classes are up and waiting to be finalized and, on our end, we’re already pushing forward to get ready for the new year. Hopefully some of you are on the same page and getting ready for next season! 

If you haven’t already checked out those rules and classes, you can read the Competition Bulletin HERE that includes links to each. Now, these were posted last Friday and open for a week of public comment. We’ve now hit that one-week point, so if you’re reading this as soon as it’s posted and have a literal last minute comment, be sure to send that in right away. If you’re reading this after the weekend, you might be out of time! 

There are a few changes here and there, but nothing really earthshattering. On the ATV side, we tweaked some of the age ranges on the College and Junior classes, re-added a Sportsman B class and better clarified the “Limited” in some of the Youth classes. On the bike side, there were a few minor tweaks to some of the classes and we also added a Sportsman C class as well. In the Youth bike, we tweaked the wheel sizes in some of the classes and divided the Girls classes up a bit differently as well, including a Girls Supermini and Girls 65 class. Oh, and there’s officially a Micro-E class as well for the electric bikes! 

As for rules, we basically just better clarified the minimum race lengths and other than that, there really weren’t any major rule changes on the Amateur side. The Pro rules will be set soon as we just completed their riders’ meetings this week but there are minimal changes there as well. There were minimal eMTB changes other than the addition of a Women’s Vet class and clarifying a few things in regards to the five eMTB events that will be held on Friday afternoon. 

Speaking of which, if you weren’t already aware; the eMTBs will grow to nine rounds and all of these events will be held in conjunction with the regular GNCC schedule (IE: not racing at Loretta Lynn’s this year) Additionally, The General, Snowshoe, The Mountaineer, Buckwheat 100 and Ironman eMTB races will all be held on Friday afternoon. This is due to time constraints and daylight, and to give these guys a better course experience overall. So, at those events as you’re coming in, or checking out your course please remember these races will be going on and that you are NOT allowed to ride your eMTB on the course during the eMTB race. Don’t forget that you are not allowed to ride with the eMTB racers during their race. You wouldn’t want people getting in the mix with you while you’re racing, so please be respectful of this. 

We’re now closing in on Christmas and if you’re looking for a unique gift idea; how about a 2023 GNCC season credential? You can purchase a season credential for yourself or your racer that will get you through the gate for the entire season. This will make things quick and easy when you arrive as you’re able to just show your credential and make your way into the facility.
