MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 5, 2024) – This weekend at The Specialized General GNCC racing event in Washington, Georgia, round 3 of the Progressive Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, the series will honor 4x4 ATV racing pioneer, Mike Penland, throughout the day on Saturday dubbing it as “Mike Penland Day.”

Mike was recently diagnosed with untreatable stage 4 terminal cancer. Despite the prognosis, Mike has been doing well and is continuing to get around and enjoy life like only Mike can enjoy. This weekend Mike and his family, along with “OG 4x4 Quad Squad” will all be onsite at The General GNCC celebrating his legacy, racing and much more. Make sure to stop by the Penland setup for a photo op with Mike and his infamous ATV and UTV. Also be sure to grab yourself a custom event sticker that Mike and his family will be handing out.

During Saturday’s morning ATV race, the 4x4 Pro winner will receive their traditional trophy, but will also be presented a commemorative number one plate with the Mike Penland logo on it, celebrating Mike Penland Day.

GNCC Racing caught up with Mike Penland ahead of this weekend’s race,  The General GNCC, in Washington, Georgia, and discussed Mike’s racing history, and much more in this week’s edition of the Wiseco Tuesday Toolbox.

The third round of the 2024 Progressive GNCC Racing Series will take place this weekend, March 9 and 10, in Washington, Georgia  with The Specialized General GNCC at Aonia Pass MX. Catch GNCC Pro ATV and Motorcycle Racing free via RacerTV.com all season long. Pro ATV Racing starts Saturday’s at 2pm ET, with the exception of Big Buck, Snowshoe and Ironman events where they will start at 1pm ET. GNCC Pro Motorcycle Racing will begin at 1pm ET on Sunday’s.
