Welcome to Quick Fill.
The off-season is flying by as we work ourselves even closer to round one of the 2018 GNCC Racing season. The pre-season prep is in full swing as we see many GNCC regulars heading south for racing, riding and any other sort of training they can fit in as well. If you haven't started now, then you better get to it very soon because the season is now just a few weeks away and we'll be rolling into Big Buck before we know it.
Speaking of pre-season prep, a big chunk of our GNCC Track Crew, TV Crews, and other event staff are knee deep in OSHA Training this week to ensure we stay safe while giving you guys a top notch event. Since we're busy with that, we'll keep this week's edition of Quick Fill a bit on the short side, but don't worry, we'll be back next week full of Quick Fill goodies because there's a lot of happenings to talk about and even more will be ready to talk about next week.
Before we roll on through this week's Quick Fill, I'll give you a super quick run down of what took place down south over the weekend. Josh Strang teamed up with Zachary Davidson to claim the overall win at the Denver 4-Hour Team race in Denver, North Carolina and on the ATV side, Josh Merritt and Cole Richardson teamed up on a whim after both had planned to Ironman the event solo and they were able to claim the ATV overall win. Congrats to those guys on some great rides. I'll try to catch up with those guys for some more details next week.
A little further south, Craig Delong came away with the overall win at the SETRA Burnt Gin Hare Scramble in Sumter, South Carolina. Zack Hayes came away with second place overall, while a broken wheel took Steward Baylor out of contention for the win and he would settle for third place overall. These guys and many others will be back in action at the same venue this weekend for the Sumter National Enduro and it should be a good one! I'm heading down to do some dual sport riding and check out the race, so stay tuned as we'll have the details on that next week.
Until then, enjoy the Quick Fill goodies and we'll see you soon!
Weekly Updates (Chelsea Taylor)
Things around the office are really starting to come together for the Big Buck GNCC. Just this week we’ve connected with our TV crew, track crew and office team to ensure all loose ends are being tied up before we head to South Carolina.
Pre-registration is now open for the first four-rounds. Rocky Mountain ATV/MC has sponsored the pre-registration program for the past five years and will continue to provide racers who use the Fast Track Pre-Entry service with $20 worth of Race Gas Cash for each and every event that is pre-registered for, redeemable for any product at Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. Race Gas Cash will be received four to six weeks after each event and multiple cash cards can be redeemed together. Just last year, $183,440 was gifted back to GNCC racers from the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Fast Track Registration Program.
Make sure to check the confirmed national number chart if you applied to reserve a number. You can check out the confirmed numbers HERE. If you have a question about the number you were assigned please call the office at (304) 284-0084.
If you plan on attending all 13 GNCC rounds you should consider purchasing a season credential. It will save you a little bit of cash, but the best part is you just have to wear the credential instead of an armband at the races. I know armbands aren’t that popular, so this is a nice alternative! You can get more info or purchase your credential HERE.
We’ve been updating our contingency webpage as each OEM announces their plan. Between Yamaha, Honda, Husqvarna, KTM and Kawasaki there is $1,445,715 up for grabs. Make sure to check the contingency webpage to see what the exact breakdowns are.
We will continue to be featured on NBC Sports Network this coming season, and will improve our highlight videos as well. Each round will have its own 30-minute show on NBCSN featuring either ATV/UTVs or bikes. Whatever discipline doesn’t air on NBCSN will be featured on Racer TV!
There have been multiple team announcements this past week including the announcement that MCS Racing will make a return to GNCC. Johnny Girroir and Cody Barnes will ride for the MCS Racing team, while Ben Kelley has re-signed with Trail Jesters KTM Racing. Brendan Riordan will be racing under the P27/Trail Jesters Offroad team. KR4 Husqvarna will be welcoming back Tayla Jones and Colin Keegan while adding Layne Michael, Cory Buttrick and Liam Draper to the team. The full announcements are listed below!
