Rocky Mountain ATV*MC/KR4 Arrive-N-Ride Team Conquers Snowshoe GNCC With 17 Top-Ten Finishes

Thursday, June 30, 2016 | 3:10 PM

The Rocky Mountain ATV*MC/KR4 Arrive-N-Ride Team captured an impressive 17 top-ten finishes on Sunday in what proved to be the toughest GNCC course of the entire 13-round series.

Following torrential downpours and emergency flash flooding in the surrounding areas, the already-tough Snowshoe GNCC course presented muddy, rocky, slippery and technical conditions throughout the race weekend. That didn't seem to stop KR4 Arrive-N-Ride's 22 team members from giving it their all as they attempted to conquer a unique course that looped around two sides of the beautiful - yet brutal - Snowshoe Mountain.

The 1 p.m. afternoon race began well for XC1 Pro rider Thad DuVall as he jumped into the lead battle early in the three-hour race. Shortly after taking the overall lead on the adjusted time clock, DuVall experienced his first "bad luck" moment of the race when his chain snapped off due to the impact of a rock on lap three. DuVall's crew pushed his bike to the pits where they replaced his chain and sent him back on the course where he left off. The West Virginia native pushed his way back up to 6th place but unfortunately with three laps to go, DuVall experienced a mechanical issue that ultimately kept him from finishing the race.
