GNCC Racing: Let’s go back to the beginning. When did you first start riding, and what made you get into racing? When was your first GNCC event?

Chloe Harper: I started riding when I was 3 years old on a Trx Honda 90 at a series called MOVHS. My dad’s friend asked my parents to go to a race to pit him, and after that, I have been racing ever since. My first ever GNCC event was in 2013 at Unadilla. It definitely was one of the scariest things that I have ever experienced, at least at the time when I was a kid.

Was there a moment when you knew that you wanted to get into this sport professionally?

Yes, there was a lot of times when I talked about making racing my livelihood and a career out of it. I finally decided in 2020 that I was going to race GNCC full time and be the best I could be at racing. I was only 15 years old, starting dental school not knowing what was going to be my profession.

What has been the most challenging thing about racing for you?

The most challenging thing about racing for me would have to be when I started training and keeping myself in shape once race season is over and trying to keep improving as the seasons go on, because there will always be someone faster than me coming up into the class.

The WXC class keeps getting more competitive each season. What’s it like racing against such a strong field of women?

The WXC class definitely keeps me on my toes. And I love the fact that there are so many fast women out there to race against, and it keeps me wanting to get faster and better as the season goes on and seasons go by.

Off the track, how would you describe the community among WXC riders?

Off the track, I would say that all of the WXC riders are super nice and super sweet, and we all have a friendship to one another. We are all friends off the track and competitors on the track. Definitely keeps the time at the track more fun.

If you could give one piece of advice to a young girl who wants to race ATVs one day, what would it be?

I would have to say that if you want it bad enough to work your butt off, you will be the best of the best one day. If you put your mind to it, you can conquer anything, cause if I can do it, then so can you.

This season has been great for you so far with wins at Talladega, Camp Coker, The Old Gray, and the Hoosier, and you're leading the WXC class in points. With your history of strong finishes in the later rounds, do you feel like momentum is on your side heading into the second half of the season?

I definitely would like to say that the momentum is on my side, but I definitely can say you never know. I like to take it race by race. Focusing on one race at a time and always making sure that my head is in the right place to finish strong and where I want to be at the end of that race.

You got your first WXC win at the Mason-Dixon in 2023, came just three seconds short of the win in 2024, and won the Women’s class there in 2022. It’s fair to say the Mason-Dixon has been a strong track for you. What are your thoughts heading into the race this year?

Mason-Dixon has always been one of my favorite tracks and I have made a lot of racing memories there. But I always feel like I ride strong at the Mason Dixon, and that you never know what will happen with all of the strong competition this year, because it is still anyone’s race as the season goes on.

This season marks 50 years of GNCC Racing, and you've already added your name to the list of winners. What does being part of such a historic year of racing mean to you?

It means a lot to me to be a part of GNCC because I have always wanted to be a part of the record books and I feel that if I win the WXC championship this year then not only will I be a part of a historic year, but I will be winning a championship in one of the biggest years of GNCC.

Outside of racing, what else do you like to do for fun?

Other than Racing, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to bake and cook and hopefully go to culinary and pastry school one day, and this might make me sound like a grandma, but I like to knit and crochet. I try and lead a very simple life outside of racing.

Finally, we know you can’t do this by yourself. Who are the people and sponsors you’d like to thank?

I want to thank God, my parents, Jeff Osburn, Osburn Offroad, Moose Offroad, parts unlimited, Custom Axis Socks, Lonestar racing, Maxxis Tires, Dasa, Renthal, Hellish racing, Hinson Racing, Sunstar, Dp brakes, Prographx, Cecco, Pierce performance, Leatt, Hc conditioning, Tireballs, Quad tech, Odi, LMS, JSM, Lifestyle Gym, Boostd tv, Precision, RK Chains, Cycra, Blud lubricants, my race family, and King Quarries!
