GNCCRacing.com: Dante, thanks for speaking with me today. Let’s go back to the beginning. What was your first bike and when/where was your first race?

Dante Oliveira: My first bike was a PW50. My first race was in 2006 at the D36 Hare Scramble at EStreet MX.

Coming off a very impressive win at the Camp Coker GNCC. I’m assuming everyone has been telling you, “This is your round, it’s a track made for you!” and they couldn’t have been more correct. What was clicking for you?

Yeah, Camp Coker clicked for me because the small chop and big bumps developed with a little bit of speed.

For those that may not know, you’re filling in for Ben Kelley who’s still out recovering from an injury. How did this opportunity come about for you? Was this something you pursued or something that KTM reached out to you about?

Timmy reached out to me about four week prior to round one asking if I wanted a piece of GNCC and I was all in!

Your primary gig is racing in the NGPC on the west coast. I’ve loved the banter and smack talk on social media after your win at Camp Coker. That’s what makes racing different, or even similar disciplines so awesome. We get a chance to see how we stack up against each other. How has your experience on the west coast translated when racing GNCC on the east coast?

I love a challenge and showing what I’m made of. The banter and smack talk is classic and just adds fuel to the fire! Racing west coast helps on the east coast with raw speed and being able to attack the tracks.

Have you talked to any of the XC1 guys into coming out west to try their hand at a NGPC?

Stew said at round one if I beat him, he would come race a NGPC. So we will see…

You’re not racing the full series with us this, or maybe you are, can we convince you into staying for all 13 rounds? If not, what’s the plan for the GNCC side of your schedule?

For 2024 I have two more GNCC’ at round 8 and 9. The rest will conflict with my main series, NGPC, and AMAWHS. Who know what the future looks like though.

I know you had your mechanic at Camp Coker. It can be very challenging to fly across the country, racing tracks other pros are familiar with and be successful. How much of a factor did having a familiar face in the pits help you grab the win?

It was great having Bobby D at Camp Coker! My confidence in the machine are up and Bobby brings the hype.

Outside of NGPC, AMAWHS, and GNCC are there any other national events you’re looking to race this year?

If everything works out, I will be lining up at the Washougal Pro Motocross.

Alright, I’d be doing a disservice to my fellow east coast friend if I didn’t ask. What’s something you love about the east coast that maybe you don’t have on the west coast? And, what’s something you have back home that you miss while you’re on the east coast racing?

West coast Mexican food kicks east coast’s ass. East coast is a little more technical with the racing, which is fun but I love letting it eat on the west coast.

When you’re not racing or training, what do you like to do for fun?

In the summer I like getting out on the boat and going wake surfing. In the winter I really like going snowboarding.

I know you don’t do this alone, who are the people and sponsors you’d like to thank?

FMF Redbull KTM, my family and friends, my mechanic Bobby D, Team Manager Timmy Weigand, Scott, and Asterisk.
