As row one took off of the top 20 riders, the Snowshoe GNCC event pays tribute to the Blackwater heritage as the race starts “in town” with riders lined up in groups of five on the main road. They start live-engine ever 10 seconds, and are time adjusted based off of what row they begin on. The craziness began to ensue through the trails, and after one lap complete it was the former champion, WFR/GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler returning from injury and holding the early lead. 

On the second lap of the race, Fowler would get held up by some lapped traffic and Action Off-Road/Pro Graphx/Kenda/Pierce Performance’s Jay Shadron would come through holding the lead, but it would not be long before Phoenix Racing Yamaha’s Brycen Neal made his way into the lead as he continued to push throughout the duration of the race. Neal would hold the lead as the white flag flew, indicating one lap to go. As he continued on, he would see the checkered flag and claim his fifth win of the season, extending his points lead to a 47 points gap for summer break. 

Richardson Racing/Action Off-Road/Kenda’s Cole Richardson would have a good start to the day as he came through third on the opening laps of the race. Richardson, who earned the win at the previous round, was looking to battle for another win this weekend and would continue to push throughout the race. As he came into the finish line to see the checkered flag, he would check in with under one second separating himself and Neal for the win. Richardson would finish second and sits third in the National Championship standings. 

Another racer who continued to push himself throughout the race was JMR/GBC Tires/Elka/Moose Racing’s Jarrod McClure. As he came through on the opening lap, McClure would find himself inside the top five, but would fall back to ninth as he came around on the second lap. He would continue to make the necessary moves through the pack and would cross the finish line third overall on the day, earning his first podium finish of the season.

Action Off-Road/GBC Tires/Rath Racing/SSi Decal’s Josh Merritt would put in another great ride as he came from a seventh place start at the beginning of the race to finish fourth overall on the day. Action Off-Road/Pro Graphx/Kenda/Pierce Performance’s Jay Shadron would come through in the fifth overall finishing position after briefly holding the lead on the second lap. 

Returning from injury, WFR/GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler would continue to push after leading on lap one. Fowler would come through to earn sixth overall at the Snowshoe GNCC. Hunter Hart Racing/Ithaca Recreation Sports/Fly Racing’s Hunter Hart did not have the day he was hoping for as he came through seventh overall. 

Abney Racing/Action Off-Road/Maxxis/Lonestar Racing’s Austin Abney made his way up to eighth overall after starting back in the 10th place position. Pierce Performance/Action Off-Road/GBC/Active Waste Solution’s John Glauda Jr. was another racer looking to battle for a podium spot but would fall back to ninth in XC1 on the day after running up in fifth on the third lap. Bullet Proof Doorz/BNR Motorsports/Senge Graphic’s Ronnie Rusch would round out the top 10 in the XC1 Pro class at Snowshoe.

In the XC2 Pro-Am class it was Steven Harrell Racing/BNR Motorsports/Kenda/HMF’s Steven Harrell coming through first on the opening lap. Harrell would continue to place a gap over the rest of the XC2 field, coming through with over a 10-minute lead in the class as he earned his eighth win of the season. Pierce Performance/Action Off-Road/GBC Tire’s James Glauda would have a decent start to the day as he came through fourth on lap one. Glauda would continue to push and make his way into a podium finish as the white flag flew. As he continued on, he would make his way into second to finish out the day. Phoenix Racing Yamaha’s Grayson Eller rounded out the top three XC2 finishers after making his way up from a 10th place start. 

Snowshoe’s Top Amateur honors went to Christopher Howard who finished first in the College A class and 13th overall on the day. Rounding out the Top Amateur podium were Alex Thieman, also of College A, as he came through 15th overall and Andre Williams, another College A competitor, who finished 17th overall at round nine. 

The 4x4 Pro class saw some heated battles throughout the day as Ryco Racing/Kenda Tires/KMK Off-Road/Elite Graphic’s Cody Collier got out front early in the race. He would soon be faced with a battle from Edgewood/TMS/DeRisi Racing’s Brandon Frazier. As they came through on the second lap, it would be Frazier leading the way with Collier and LW Racing/OBOR/Action Off-Road’s Landon Wolfe gaining on him.

As the race continued on Wolfe would make his way into the lead as the white flag flew, but he with only three seconds separating himself and Frazier, Wolfe would overheat on the last lap and Frazier would capitalize as he made the move on Wolfe to take over the number one spot. Wolfe would hold onto second place, while Collier crossed the line in third on the day.

In the WXC class it was Elioff Racing/BNR Motorsports/GBC Tires/Fly Racing’s Jessica Elioff getting in the lead early on. Elioff would continue to hold that number one spot for the duration of the race as they completed four brutal laps of racing in West Virginia. By earning her fifth win of the season, Elioff moves herself in to the points lead for the summer break. 

Hurricane Hannah/Fly Racing/OBOR Tires/HMF’s Hannah Hunter and Team Pickens/GBC Tires/Yamaha Racing/Fly Racing’s Traci Pickens also had consistent races as the two started out in second and third, remaining there until the checkered flag flew. 

Saturday morning the Youth ATV racers took to the treacherous course at round nine where Andrew Smallwood would come through to earn the overall and YXC1 Super Mini Sr. (13-15) class win. Ryan Wilhelm and Grant Hunter would come through to round out the top three overall and YXC1 class finishers on the day. 

In the YXC2 Super Mini Jr. (12-13) class it was Ryder Reick coming through to take the class win followed by Stetson Owens and Bodie Buckhannon, who rounded out the class top three on the podium.

Levi Ringer earned fifth overall on the day, and he would take home the 250 (13-15) class win. Isaac Smith earned himself the 250 (13-15) Limited class win. Gunnar Claypool took home the 125 (8-12) class win. Kane Cecco came through to claim the 125 (8-12) Limited win. Eli Tate battled back to take home the 90 (8-12) class win.

Ryleigh Dearing would earn the Schoolgirl Sr. (13-15) class win, while Paisley Stout earned another Schoolgirl Jr. (12-15) class win. Gracie Wolfe earned the Girls Sr. (12-15) class win, while Lydia Arnold took home the Girls Jr. (8-11) class win. In the 70 CVT (6-11) class win it was Stratton Weddle earning the win.

The fifth round of racing took place on Friday afternoon for the Specialized Turbo eMTB GNCC National Championship. Coming through to earn his first overall win of the season in the XC1 Pro class was Gear Bicycles/Specialized’s Charlie Mullins. Ride Kanuga/Specialized/Rouleur Coaching’s Cypress Gorry came through to earn second overall on the day, extending his points lead in the series. Specialized/ShimanoMTB’s Gus Michaels battled back to round out the top three overall finishers and XC1 Pro finishers at Snowshoe. 

In the XC2 class it was Coastal Racing’s Talon Hawk coming through the muddy conditions to earn his third-straight win of the season. AmPro Yamaha’s Mitch Hawkins would come through to earn his first second place finish of the season along with Wamsley Cycle’s Cooper Kuneff rounding out the top three overall finishers in the XC2 class. 

Ginny McFall would earn the WXC class win after battling throughout the race with Ashley Hendershot and Alexandra Cardozo who finished second and third in the class. Hendershot continues to hold the lead in the points standings after five races. 

Gunnar Shogren earned the XC3 (40+) class win, Megan Lipscomb came through to earn the Women’s class win, Phillip Sollon took home the Amateur class win, Jon Agin earned the Senior (40+) class win, Don Bohn earned the Masters (55+) class win, Marty Aloisio earned the Big Bore (200lb+) class win, while Trevor Harris earned himself the Youth (9-13) class win atop Snowshoe Mountain. 

The AMSOIL Moto Hero was award to Harold Kramer from Chapmanville, West Virginia. Harold served in the Army on Active Duty for 22 years and 4 months. He is now retired but served as an E-7 Sergeant First Class. He served in three combat tours, and worked within the Airborne Forces, Air Assault Troops and was a Drill Sergeant for many soldiers. Harold received an AMSOIL Shopping Spree, a set of Kanati Truck tires courtesy of GBC Tires, a pair of 100% camo goggles and a commemorative American Flag and gift cart from Columbia Sign and Co.
