CHALLENGING GNCC FINALE FOR FMF KTM’S JOSH TOTH
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The final stop of the 2022 AMA Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series showcased extremely dry and dusty conditions in Crawfordsville, Indiana, which made for a challenging day of racing for FMF KTM Factory Racing Team rider Josh Toth, who experienced a bike issue while battling for podium contention. Unable to continue on after the halfway point, Toth found himself sidelined for the final laps of the season at Ironman GNCC.
Toth had a good jump off the line and he positioned himself into third early on, battling in and around the third-place spot for the first hour and a half. Four laps into the race, the extreme dust began to take a toll on the bike and he was unable to proceed, finishing sixth in XC1 Open Pro for the day. Despite a challenging end to the season, Toth’s year included five top-five finishes in XC1 Open Pro and his performance this year earned him seventh overall in the 2022 championship.
Josh Toth:“I got a decent jump off the line and I got to the first technical pro hill and made a couple passes there. I think I found my way into second or third place and rode around there for the first three laps. Then, on the fourth lap, I noticed my bike started to lose some power and I didn't make it much further before sucking in a bunch of dirt and ending my race early.”
Eight-time GNCC National Champion Kailub Russell showcased the new generation KTM 350 XC-F FACTORY EDITION in the two-hour morning race, putting forth a dominant performance to top the overall and Sportsman A (25+) class at the Ironman GNCC.
