Morgantown, WV (May 12, 2022)
Round 3 of the GNCC EMTB Series presented by Specialized took place last weekend in at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, IN. Rain all week leading up to Saturday's event made for less than ideal race track conditions.
The track was muddy in sections and over 50% of the race course was soft which causes havoc on the battery life of an EMTB race bike.
Defending National Champ, Cooper Kuneff took home his third win in the youth class for 2022. Fellow National Champion, Gavin Garlits also held on for the amateur 14+ class win despite his battery going dead on the final lap.
Colin Dierman rode well and took home 3rd place in the ultra-competitive XC3 class. WXC pro-women, Ashely Hendershot took home her first WXC Pro Women victory and currently sits 1st in points for her class.
Currently, Hendershot, C. Kuneff, and Garlits are all in the title hunt in their respective classes.
The Impakt EMTB team returns to racing on May 21 at The John Penton GNCC in Millfield, OH.
For each GNCC EMTB the Impakt team holds a group ride at 5 pm from their pit area on vendor row. Everyone is welcome to join.
