Trail Jesters KTM Racing - Big Buck GNCC Race Report
The winter break has ended and the Trail Jesters KTM Racing team headed to Union, SC for round one of the 2022 GNCC Series. Near perfect weather welcomed the racers on Sunday as the track conditions became more grueling throughout the day.
Korie Steede and Taylor Johnston lined up in the WXC class during the morning race. As riders battled their way for position during the first lap, Steede latched onto the lead group and didn’t let go. Checking in 3rd after lap one and holding that position until the checkered flag waved. Similarly Johnston also settled into position early on in the race in 12th place, and moved her way to 11th at the end of the 2 hours.
Korie Steede: “Best start to my GNCC season so far, not at all where I wanted to be but I’m stoked to leave round one healthy and hungry for more!”
In the XC2 class, Jesse Ansley was quick off the line as he muscled his KTM 250 XC-F out front of the pack. After some struggles on the opening laps Ansley was able to work his way from 15th to 13th in class by the end the race. Teammate Simon Johnson also lined up in the XC2 class and dealt with some obstacles of his own throughout the race, finishing his day 15th XC2.
Lining up in the Youth morning race were Trail Jesters Next Gen racers Van Gosselin and Jiggs Fustini. In YXC1, Gosselin fought his way from 5th at the opening lap to 3rd by the end of lap 4, but an unfortunate situation caused him to end his day 22nd in class. In YXC2, Fustini went holeshot to checkers leading his class the entire race to take the class win and land 2nd on the overall podium at the season opener.
