MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (February 18, 2022) – The Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, kicks off the 2022 racing season this weekend, February 19 and 20, in Union, South Carolina with the VP Racing Fuels Big Buck. Riders and fans are eager to get the season underway to watch America’s premier off-road racing series in action. This season may be one of the most highly-anticipated seasons yet, with Fowler looking to earn his eighth National Championship and Kelley hoping to back-up his first National Championship.

This season WFR/GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler is ready to go to battle for his eighth GNCC National Championship this season. Fowler is looking to come out strong this weekend and battle at the front of the pack to take the first overall win of the season. However, Fowler will have a handful of riders eager to dethrone him starting with the number two guy The Original Formula 88/Ithaca Recreation Sports/Maxxis/Fly Racing’s Hunter Hart. After earning another overall win last season, Hart is hungry for more in 2022.

JMR/GBC/Elka/Moose Racing’s Jarrod McClure had a consistent year in 2021, but he is looking to land on the center of the podium and battle for a championship. Also looking to be up front is Getter Nissan/Kenda/Action Off-Road/Richardson Racing’s Cole Richardson. Richardson ended the year with a win at Ironman, and he is hoping to pick up where he left off and earn the win this weekend in South Carolina.

After an up-and-down season last year, OBOR/Moose Racing/Parts Unlimited/McGill Mafia’s Adam McGill is hopeful he can come out strong this year. Also looking to start the year out strong is Merritt Racing/BNR Motorsports/GBC Tires’ Josh Merritt. McGill and Merritt have been consistent riders in the XC1 Pro class, and this year are hoping to battle at the front of the pack.

GBC/Fly Racing/Nine2/BNR Motorsports’ Devon Feehan ended the second half of the season with three podium appearances, and he is hoping his offseason prep has been enough to continue the podium streak. Pierce Performance/GBC Tires/Fly Racing’s John Glauda Jr. finished the year eighth overall and is hoping for another consistent season this year. Chris Borich Racing/GBC/Action Off-Road/Fly Racing/AMSOIL-backed rider Chris Borich and Magna1 Motorsports’ Brycen Neal rounded out the top 10 last year and are hoping to turn that luck around and land on the podium while battling for wins this season.

Then on Sunday, the world’s fastest off-road motorcycle racers take to the woods of South Carolina. FMF/KTM Factory Racing’s Benjamin Kelley earned his first-ever National Championship last year and is eager to get back on the track to defend that number one plate. Kelley will have his work cut out for him once again this year as a handful of riders will be looking to take the coveted championship this season.

AmPro Yamaha’s Steward Baylor Jr. is ready to go for round one this year, and he will be looking to land on the center of the podium this Sunday afternoon. Baylor is one of the fan favorites coming into the 2022 season, and there is no doubt that his home state of South Carolina will be in cheering him on for the entire three-hour race.

Magna1 Motorsports/Husqvarna’s Jordan Ashburn had a great season in 2021, and he is looking to add an overall win to his resume this weekend. Ashburn has been a consistent force for two-straight years now and is very eager to get a strong start to the season this year.

One rider looking to get back to his winning ways is Babbitts Online/Monster Energy/Kawasaki Team Green’s Josh Strang. Strang earned the win at The John Penton last year and is looking for more of those wins this year. The FMF/KTM Factory backed-racer Josh Toth is also looking to get back to the front of the pack this season, and battle for more podium finishes.

Last year Rev Motorsports/GASGAS Racing Grant Baylor earned the season opener win at Big Buck, and this season he is looking to repeat that success in his home state of South Carolina.

Coastal GASGAS Factory Racing’s Johnny Girroir finished inside the top 10 overall last year, while also earning the XC2 250 Pro National Championship. This year Girroir is looking to defend his championship, and battle with the XC2 guys for one more year. His teammate, Coastal GASGAS Factory Racing’s Ricky Russell is hoping for a better season, and to battle up front once again for overall wins.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thad Duvall is also hopeful to have a better season this year, as he has prepared himself to do battle at the front of the pack.
