GNCC Racing Takes on Snowshoe Mountain for
Round 9, Yamaha Racing Snowshoe GNCC
Fowler And Baylor Confident to Conquer the Mountain

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 24, 2021) – The Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, heads to Snowshoe Mountain Resort for the ninth round of the 2021 season. After not running the event last year due to COVID-19, riders along with fans seem eager for the weekend’s 14th Running of the Snowshoe GNCC.

On Saturday afternoon WFR/GBC Tires/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler will kick off the race looking to earn his third-straight win, and sixth win of the season. Fowler has won three times at Snowshoe and will look to add another one to his name after this weekend. Fowler is also aiming to head into GNCC’s Summer Break on a winning note.

Hunter Hart Racing/Maxxis/Fly Racing’s Hunter Hart came through to earn second at the previous round and continues to hold second in the points standings. Hart is hopeful he can conquer the mountain this weekend and earn his first win of the season.

Rounding out the podium at the last round was JMR/GBC/Elka/Moose Racing’s Jarrod McClure. This weekend McClure will be aiming for that number one spot, as he has earned a win on the mountain back in 2015. McClure is also hoping to minimize the points deficit between himself and Hart before heading into the break.

Four-time Snowshoe GNCC winner, and West Virginia native, OBOR/Moose Racing/Parts Unlimited-backed rider Adam McGill comes into his home state round very confident that he can run at the front of the pack and earn his fifth win on the mountain. McGill has had a rollercoaster year thus far, but always comes into Snowshoe with a slight twinkle in his eye. McGill will be one to keep an eye on Saturday afternoon.

Pierce Performance/GBC Tires/Fly Racing/Action Off-Road’s John Glauda Jr. has also been a consistent factor in the XC1 Pro top five finishers. Glauda Jr. is once again looking to battle towards the front of the pack through the Snowshoe racecourse.

Other XC1 Pros to keep an eye on this weekend would be Action Off-Road/Kenda/Tely Energy’s Cole Richardson who sits fourth in the points standings, as well as CBR/GBC Tires/Action Off-Road/Fly Racing/AMSOIL’s Chris Borich who holds the most wins on the ATV side of GNCC Racing.

On Saturday at 4:30 p.m. the Specialized Turbo eMTB GNCC National Championship will host round six of their series. Gear Racewear/Specialized's Nick Mackie will aim to earn another win this weekend, but he will have to hold off fellow XC1 Pro eMTB competitor's Live It Extreme's Kyle Smith and Gear Racewear/Specialized's Charlie Mullins.

Then on Sunday at 1 p.m. AmPro Yamaha’s Steward Baylor, who currently sits four points behind championship points standings leader FMF/KTM Factory Racing’s Benjamin Kelley, will be aiming to clinch his sixth win of the season. However, Kelley will be on a mission to earn another win this season and keep the points lead as the series heads into its Summer Break.

Magna1 Motorsports/Husqvarna’s Jordan Ashburn finished third at the previous round, and now holds the title of Father after welcoming twins into the world six days ago. Ashburn looks to be ready to rip this weekend, and hopefully earn that first overall win.

Another rider hopeful to earn a win this weekend is Babbitt’s Online/Monster Energy/Kawasaki Team Green Josh Strang. After earning his first win of the season at round seven, Strang is ready to get back to the front of the pack and battle for that coveted win. Strang currently sits fourth in the points standings but is aiming to earn valuable points in the championship hunt.

FMF/KTM Factory Racing’s Josh Toth rounded out the top five at round 8 a couple of weeks ago. On Sunday Toth is hopeful he can get out there and run with the front-runners to conquer the mountain and earn his first overall win of the season.

The KLM Milwaukee GASGAS’ Grant Baylor remains third in the points standings but is currently tied with Strang for that position. Coastal GASGAS Factory Racing’s Ricky Russell is making his return after having surgery on his hand.
