Coastal Racing had an up-and-down weekend of racing in Mt. Morris, PA for Round 8 of the GNCC Series. The Mason Dixon GNCC was dry and dusty, and the 3 Hour Pro race was challenging on all levels.
In the XC1 class, Ricky Russell #212 rocketed off to another great start, but almost immediately ran into some trees and smashing his hands in the process. He was able to remount and even race his way into the lead at one point, but the pain and risk of a crash proved too much and Ricky had to pull in early. In the XC2 class, Johnny Girroir #969 got caught up in a first turn pileup which set the tone for the rest of the race. Just after the halfway point, Johnny broke his shifter off and lost quite a bit of time the rest of the lap. After working his way back up again, Johnny crashed into a tree, forcing him to cruise into the finish in 5th. In the XC3 class, Ben Parsons #300 dominated and pulled out nearly 6 minutes over 2nd place by the finish.
In the amateur classes, Alex Patterson #232 finished Top 10 in the 4-Stroke Lites A class after battling inside the top 10 all race long. Lane Whitmer #587 dominated the 250B class again, pulling off another win by over 11 minutes. Shawn Remington #63 made a trip up to the podium once again, finishing 2nd in the 40+ A class.
