Trail Jesters KTM Racing – Camp Coker GNCC Race Report

The Trail Jesters KTM Racing team made their way to Society Hill, South Carolina to compete at round four of the 2021 GNCC Racing season. Back from injury this past weekend was Simon Johnson, as he got a good jump on the XC2 class line and raced his way to the first corner. Unfortunately Johnson went down in that first corner, but quickly got back onto the bike and began his chase down of the rest of the pack. Johnson struggled to get into a groove during the first half of the race as he sat in 14th place on lap one, but made his way up to 12th by midway through the race. Simon began to find comfort on the track as the race continued, catching up to 11th place and battling back and forth with him for the next few laps. By the last lap Johnson was able to hold down 11th place and gain a comfortable gap as he finished his first race back of the season 11th in XC2 and 25th overall. “It’s been about a year since my last GNCC and I’m happy with my results considering I was off the bike for awhile. My goals for the rest of the GNCC season are to focus on overalls and finishing strong.” Johnson stated as he looks forward to improving the rest of the year.

Brayden Nolette had a midpack start in the stacked 250A class as he headed out into the woods. By the end of the first lap Nolette checked in sitting 14th in class with a train of competitors both in front of him and behind him all within striking distance. Brayden fought hard the entire 3 hour long race, finding his groove as the race progressed and making up ground with each lap he completed. As the checkered flag waved he crossed the finish line with a season best finish of 5th in 250A and 35th overall. Nolette has been working hard in between rounds to improve in areas he feels he is lacking in order to be a better competitor come race day as he stated, “I made changes to my routine before I even went out on the track, and a mentality change to think about what I can do better rather than thinking about what I did wrong.”

Taylor Johnson sat on the sideline this past weekend after breaking her ankle in an offseason crash and hopes to be cleared mid May. Also on the sidelines this past weekend was Jesse Ansley, who broke his hand while racing a US Sprint Enduro.
