Trail Jesters KTM Racing – The General GNCC Race Report

Just one week since the last GNCC race, the Trail Jesters KTM Racing team made their way to Washington, GA to compete in round 4 of the 2021 GNCC Racing season. Jesse Ansley had a less than ideal start in the XC2 class as his bike didn’t fire right away and he sat on the line while his competition took off. Ansley got his bike going and headed out into the woods holding up the tail end of his 20 person XC2 class. With fire in his belly, Ansley put his head down and began picking off riders as he worked his way back up through the field and on the first lap as he made his way into 11th place. As the race proceeded Jesse continued to pick up positions and move his way up to 8th place as the 2 lap board came out. When the race came to an end, Ansley crossed the checkered flag with an 8th place finish in XC2 and 17th overall. With a two week break before heading to round 5 Jesse Ansley said,  “We have a plan for Camp Coker, so we will see if it works. Taking a totally different approach to the races and seeing if it makes any difference for me.”

In the 250A class, Brayden Nolette had a great jump off the line as the green flag waved, only to find himself down on the ground in the first corner. After picking himself up and getting the bike going, Nolette sat just about dead last in the 250A class as he headed out into the woods. With a lot of ground to make up, Nolette worked up from about 26th to 19th by the end of lap one. After struggling with arm pump the first two laps, Brayden began to find a flow and worked on minimizing his mistakes in orderto pick off his competitors and by midway point of the race he had worked his way up to 11th place. As the final laps clicked off in this 3 hour race, Nolette made his way up inside of the top ten sitting 9th in class until an unfortunate bike issue that pushed him back to 10th place in the 250A class as the race concluded. After a hard fought race and working his way up to that top ten finish, Nolette feels he knows what areas he wants to improve to help get him to where he wants to be as he stated, “I am working on my arm pump issues and speed on the first few laps. Also making it through the first few corners without being last into the woods.”

Simon Johnson sat this race out after sustaining a broken wrist while training prior to the season. He hopes to be back at Camp Coker. Taylor Johnson also sat on the sideline this past weekend after breaking her ankle in 10 places in an offseason crash and hopes to be cleared mid April.
