Trail Jesters KTM Racing – Wild Boar GNCC Race Report

The Trails Jesters KTM Racing team headed to round two of the 2021 GNCC Series this past weekend to take on the sand whoops and mud bogs of Palatka, Florida. On the XC2 line was Jesse Ansley, a Florida native ready to take on his hometown race. As the green flag waved the XC2 class bolted to the first corner as Ansley got shuffled in the mix but held onto the front pack of riders. As they checked in marking the end of the first lap Ansley sat in 9th in class as the top 10 riders all were in a freight train at that point. As the race continued Jesse began to not feel well and fell back from the lead group while remaining in 9th place, he spent the rest of his race not only battling for positions but battling himself to push through and finish the race. By the end of the three hour race Ansley made his way up 7th in XC2 and 19th overall, and already has his sights on round three as he stated,  “With it only being a week between GNCC’s I really have to make sure I’m recovering and resting to make sure my body is 100% going into Georgia to make a statement and show I’m a top 5 guy.”

In the 250A class, Brayden Nolette had a good jump off the line and found himself in about the 5th place point as his class raced to the first corner. Soon thereafter Nolette found himself on the ground after colliding with another rider and saw his competition flying by, as he got up and going ready to make moves he again found himself on the ground after tangling with another rider and sat deadlast in his class early on in the first lap. With the wind being knocked out of his sails a bit, Nolette struggled to find the flow he was looking for as he checked in lap one 18th in class. As the race continued Brayden began getting comfortable in the deep whoops and soft sand and began making up some ground. As the checkered flag waved Nolette finished his first ever 3 hour long Wild Boar race 14th in 250A. With the one week break between races Nolette had this to say about the short break, “I’m staying in Georgia and following Steve Hatch’s workout plan and training plan to get ready to have a better race at round 3.”

Simon Johnson sat this race out after sustaining a broken wrist while training prior to the season. He hopes to be back racing soon. Taylor Johnson also sat on the sideline this past weekend after breaking her ankle in the offseason and hopes to be cleared to ride by mid-April.
