Walker Fowler Earns Fifth-Straight Win in South Carolina

SOCIETY HILL, S.C. (May 31, 2020) – The 2020 Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, kicked off the FMF Camp Coker Bullet GNCC on Saturday, May 30 with an exciting day of ATV racing at Moree’s Sportsman’s Preserve in Society Hill, South Carolina.

After a five lap race in the South Carolina heat it would be WFR/GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler coming through to greet the checkered flag with over a minute gap back to second place. Fowler would grab the early lead, put his head down, and push on as the race wore on. This win marks Fowler’s fifth-straight win of the season, and his 59th career overall win.

Battling his way into the second overall position was CST/Houser Racing/Waynesburg Yamaha’s Brycen Neal. As the pack made their way around on the opening lap, Neal would find himself running third overall. However, Neal would remain focused and as the 2-lap card came out Neal had made the pass to take over second overall. Neal would hold that position for the remaining two laps of the race, also moving himself into second overall in the National Championship points standings.

McGill Mafia/OBOR Tires/LSR/Moose Racing’s Adam McGill earned his first top three finishing position of the season as he made his way through in third overall. McGill had started out his day in second overall, but would face a tough battle with Neal coming through the pack. McGill would be able to hold off the rest of the pack and secure his first podium position of the season at round five.

Holding onto fourth overall for majority of the day was JMR/GBC/Elka/Moose Racing’s Jarrod McClure. As the race wore on McClure’s lap times became faster as he closed the gap between him and third to just 1.81 seconds by the time the checkered flag came out. McClure currently holds onto third place in the National Championship points standings.

Phoenix Honda Racing’s Chris Borich made his way up to a top five finish on the day after a mid-pack start put him seventh on the opening lap. Borich did not get the start he was hoping for as he came through turn one close to the back of the XC1 Pro class, however he would continue to push through the grueling track conditions to make a top five finish possible on the day. Borich holds onto fifth in the points standings.

Making his way into sixth overall after a 10th place start to the day was Pierce Performance/GBC Tires/Fly Racing’s John Glauda Jr. Glauda got a good jump off the line as he came through turn one close to the front of the pack, however he had his work cut out for him as he battled his way to sixth.

HHR/Maxxis/Fly Racing/Ithaca Recreation Sports’ Hunter Hart came back from a mid-pack start and ninth place on lap one to finish seventh overall on the day. Hart has had a great start to the 2020 season, and he continues to sit fourth in the points standings after five rounds of racing. Coming through 10th overall on the day, and an eighth in XC1 was BNR Motorsports/GBC/HMF Engineering’s Joshua Merritt.

GBC/Fly Racing/HMF/Yamaha’s Johnny Gallagher came through ninth in his class, and 11th overall on the day, followed by Wolfe Racing/Nine2/FTR Graphics/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Westley Wolfe rounding out the XC1 Pro top 10. Action Offroad/Tely Energy Racing/Kenda's Cole Richardson jumped off the line first to earn the $100 All Balls Racing XC1 Pro Holeshot Award, however after grabbing that great start Richardson ran into some problems. He was unable to complete a lap, and would suffer a DNF.

Drew Landers (LanMills XC/WFR/Magna1 Lubricants) clinched his fourth XC2 Pro-Am class win at this year's FMF Camp Coker Bullet GNCC.
