For Round 12, Yamaha Mountaineer GNCC
Fowler Aims For 10th Overall Win of Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (October 9, 2019) – The 2019 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, heads to Summit Bechtel Reserve near Beckley, West Virginia this weekend Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13 for the penultimate round of racing at the Yamaha Mountaineer GNCC.

Coming into this weekend, WFR/GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler has wrapped up his fifth-straight National Championship. However, Fowler will still be aiming to battle for that overall number one position. This Saturday, Fowler will be aiming for his 10th win of the season, and sixth-straight overall win, at a brand new venue in West Virginia.

JMR/Maxxis/Elka/Moose Racing’s Jarrod McClure is hoping to battle at the front of the pack once again. After finishing second at the past two events, McClure is eager to land an overall win before the season concludes. McClure now sits fifth in the points standings, but will be looking to improve his standings as the series heads into the final two rounds of racing.

Earning his first-ever overall podium finish just two weeks ago in Pennsylvania was, M.R. Unlimited/GBC Tires/RJR’s Devon Feehan. This weekend Feehan will look to once again battle with the front-runners, and land on the podium for the second-straight time this season.

LanMills XC/CST Tires/Houser/Yamaha’s Brycen Neal sits second in the points standings, but is with Maxxis/Fly Racing/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Chris Borich heading into the final two rounds. Neal finished fourth at the previous three rounds, and is aiming to rebound and land on the podium once again this weekend. Neal is eager to hold onto that number two spot in the points, and will be aiming to take his second overall win of the season.

Adam McGill is eager for another West Virginia GNCC this weekend, and is aiming for a podium finish.

West Virginia native, OBOR/Moose Racing/Parts Unlimited/McGill Mafia’s Adam McGill is eager for another WV round of racing this season. At an all-new venue, McGill is hoping to return to the front of the pack in front of his home state friends and family. McGill sits sixth in the points standings, but will be looking to improve that position during these last two rounds of racing.

Ryland Johnson Racing/GBC Motorsports/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Westley Wolfe put in another great run two weeks ago in Pennsylvania with a sixth overall on the day. This weekend, Wolfe will aim to battle inside the top 10 overall once again and earn valuable points towards his standings in the National Championship. Wolfe currently sits ninth overall in the standings.

Yamaha/AmPro/Action Off-Road/GBC’s Cole Richardson will be looking to make his way back to the podium this weekend. Richardson came through seventh overall two weeks ago, and was not satisfied with the performance. Coming into this weekend’s penultimate round, Richardson is really looking to get the overall win before the season ends.

Devon Feehan grabbed the holeshot two weeks ago and his first-ever overall podium finish, which he is looking to repeat this weekend.

Coming through eighth overall in Pennsylvania was Maxxis/Ithaca Recreation Sports/Fly Racing’s Hunter Hart. As Hart’s rookie year in the XC1 Pro class nears the end, he is hoping to break into a top five overall finishing position once again. Maxxis/Fly Racing/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Chris Borich will be aiming to get back to the front of the pack as well after finishing 10th overall and ninth in XC1 at the Mason-Dixon GNCC. Borich sits tied with Neal, and will need to get a better finishing position to overtake the number to place in the points.

In the XC2 Pro-Am class it was Pierce Performance/Maxxis/Waynesburg Yamaha’s John Glauda Jr. earning another class win, and clinching the XC2 National Championship early. Glauda Jr. has earned 10 class wins in XC2, but we may be seeing him lineup in the XC1 Pro class for the remaining two rounds.

LanMills XC/CST Tires/Moose Racing’s Drew Landers returned the XC2 class podium with a second place finish, and move back into second place in the points standings. Landers will look to remain second in the points, while he is also hopeful to battle at the front and grab a class win before the season ends. Jordon Poplaski rounded out the top three XC2 competitors in Pennsylvania. Poplaski rounds out the top three in the points standings as well.

This facility is one of just four in the world managed by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Each year the facility hosts the National Scout Jamboree, and this year they hosted the World Scout Jamboree. The SBR property was once the site of extensive coal mining, an industry for which the state of West Virginia is known.
