The 2019 AMSOIL GNCC Series Kicks Off This Weekend
With The Moose Racing Wild Boar GNCC
Walker Fowler Set to Battle Stacked XC1 Pro ATV Class This Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 4, 2019) – The 2019 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, kicks off this weekend, March 9 and 10, with the 5th Annual Wild Boar GNCC in Palatka, Florida. The world’s fastest off-road racers will take to the Florida track surrounded by eager spectators ready to witness the battle for the first overall win of the 2019 season.

This weekend XC1 Pro ATV riders will line up for the highly anticipated 2 p.m. start, where WFR/GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler is looking to continue his success after earning his fourth-straight GNCC ATV National Championship in 2018. Fowler will be aiming to earn the season opener win and take the early points lead.

Coming into 2019, JMR/Maxxis/Elka/Moose Racing’s Jarrod McClure will be sporting the number two machine. McClure earned the win at round six last season, and was consistently able to finish inside the top 10 overall at every round. After rounding out the podium at last season’s Wild Boar GNCC, McClure is looking to battle at the front and land himself in the center of the podium this Saturday.

Maxxis/Fly Racing/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Chris Borich comes into this season finishing third overall last year. Borich found himself in the top spot at the conclusion of the two-hour race at round nine, AMSOIL Snowshoe, which was also his first overall win since the Ironman GNCC in 2014. Borich is ready to battle at the front of the pack this season, and challenge the rest of the XC1 Pro ATV pack for his 7th GNCC National Championship.

Last season LanMills XC/CST Tires/Houser/Yamaha’s Brycen Neal earned his first career XC1 pro overall win at The General GNCC. During the off-season Neal has been focusing solely on himself, and has also said that he has not been paying attention to social media and what his competitors have been posting. Coming into Florida, Neal will be aiming for that first round victory.

Yamaha/AmPro/Action Offroad/GBC’s Cole Richardson also took home an overall win last season at his home state race, Mason-Dixon GNCC, in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. Richardson came into last season after missing 11 events the previous year due to an injury. This year Richardson is coming into the season opener healthy and with an XC1 Pro ATV overall win under his belt.

Obor/Moose Racing/Parts Unlimited/McGill Mafia’s Adam McGill finished sixth overall last season, however, McGill did take home the Steele Creek GNCC ATV overall win. McGill always seems to come into each race with the confidence that he has what it takes to win, and after a fourth last year in Florida he is going to be one to keep an eye on Saturday afternoon.

Spider Graphix/GBC Motorsports/Moose Racing’s Martin Christofferson and GBC Motorsports/RJR/Solo Pilot’s Westley Wolfe come into the season opener after finishing seventh and eighth overall last year. Christofferson and Wolfe both had a lot of great battles throughout the previous year, and are now looking to consistently finish inside the top five during the upcoming season.

XC1 Pro ATV rookie, Hunter Hart (Maxxis/Ithaca Recreation Sports/Fly Racing), is looking to come into the season after earning the XC2 Pro-Am class championship. Hart clinched the championship early enough last season and opted to move into the XC1 Pro class at the season finale, AMSOIL Ironman, where he finished sixth overall. Coming in as a rookie, Hart is aiming to battle at the front of the pack and learn from the leaders as the season progresses.

Rounding out the top-10 overall last season was M.R. Unlimited/GBC Tires/RJR’s Devon Feehan. Last year was Feehan’s first full season in the XC1 Pro ATV class, and after finishing inside the top 10 at all but a couple of events he is looking to steadily improve his finishes this season. Other top XC1 Pro ATV riders to keep an eye on Saturday afternoon will be BNR Motorsports/GBC/HMF Racing’s Josh Merritt, GBC/Fly Racing/HMF/Yamaha’s Johnny Gallagher, Custom Axis/Goldspeed/Houser Racing’s Greg Covert, Pierce Performance/Moose Racing’s Cody Collier, Spider Graphix/Shockworx Motorsports’ Tucker Wyatt and Kevin Yoho.

XC2 Pro-Am competition will be one to keep an eye on this year as well. Custom Axis/Maxxis/Demaree Motorsports’ Austin Abney finished runner-up last season, and will be aiming to take the first victory of the season this Saturday. However, John Glauda Jr. finished one point behind Abney last season, and is ready to battle for the XC2 Pro-Am National Championship. LanMills XC/CST Tires/Moose Racing’s Drew Landers will also be one to look for in the XC2 class as he made his way to the front of the class at several rounds last season.

Four-wheeled ATVs will compete throughout the day on Saturday, March 9. Youth ATV racing begins at 8 a.m., followed by Micro ATVs at 9:15 a.m. and Micro bike racing at 10 a.m., then the amateurs, 4x4 pro and women at 11 a.m., and the pros and top amateurs' race at 2 p.m.

Spectator passes run $20 for adults and $10 for children (6-11), and kids five and under are free for the full weekend (Saturday through Sunday), with pro pit access and pro autographs at no additional charge.
