Fowler Looks to Return to the Center of the Podium in South Carolina

MORGANTOWN, W.Va (April 16, 2018) – The 2018 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series, an AMA National Championship, heads to Society Hill, South Carolina this weekend, April 21 and 22, for the CST Tires Camp Coker Bullet GNCC. McGill Mafia/CST Tires/Moose Racing’s Adam McGill is fresh off his first win of 2018 that he earned two weeks ago in North Carolina. McGill currently sits third in the championship points standings, and with an 11-point deficit he is looking to earn another win this weekend.

WFR/GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler leads the pack in the points standings heading into round five. After winning the first two rounds, Fowler experienced some misfortune at rounds three and four. Last year Fowler earned the win at the Camp Coker Bullet GNCC and is looking to repeat his success this year by earning his third win of the season.

Bneal Motorsports/CST Tires/Houser Racing’s Brycen Neal, who sits 8 points behind Fowler in the championship battle, is ready for the rough and sandy racing conditions that are typically found in South Carolina. Neal finished third at the event last year, and since earning a win at round three this year, he is ready to get that second overall win under his belt.

As the season heads into round five, Maxxis/Fly Racing/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Chris Borich currently sits fourth overall in the standings. After completing three laps last year at the second South Carolina round, Borich is determined to keep his season going in the right direction. After finishing inside the top five thus far in 2018, Borich is looking to contest for a race win this Saturday afternoon.

JMR/ATVriders.com’s Jarrod McClure has two podium finishes so far this season, but is still looking for his first overall win this year. McClure did some off-season testing in the sandy terrain, which could give him the boost he needs to prevail this weekend in the sandy, loamy dirt that exists at the Camp Coker Bullet GNCC.

After finishing second at round four, AmPro Yamaha’s Cole Richardson has gotten his confidence restored. Richardson currently sits sixth in points, but is hoping to earn valuable championship points by following up his podium finish with his first career ATV overall win this weekend.

Following Richardson in seventh is RJR/Tire Spoine/GBC Motorsports’ Devon Feehan who is currently in his rookie year of the XC1 Pro class. Feehan will be gunning for a top five overall finish position, after finishing inside the top 10 at the first four events. GBC/Fly Racing/HMF/Yamaha’s Johnny Gallagher sits eight points behind Feehan, and will be make a push this weekend to hurtle himself into a better position in the points championship.

Spider Graphix/GBC Motorsports/Moose Racing’s Marty Christofferson and GBC Motorsports/ RJR/Solo Pilot’s Westley Wolfe round out the top ten in points heading into the Camp Coker Bullet GNCC this Saturday.

In the XC2 Pro-Am division, Honda’s Matthew Lindle leads the way with a nine-point lead over Indiana’s Austin Abney. Maxxis/Ithaca Recreation Sports/Fly Racing’s Hunter Hart is currently third, but is looking to earn his third win of the season and the valuable championship points that come with it. Coastal Racing’s Drew Landers comes into this weekend fourth in points, and after missing the podium at the last three rounds; he is ready to contest for another top three finish. John Glauda Jr. is coming off a win at round three, and a DNF in North Carolina. Glauda is hoping to find success is South Carolina this Saturday and earn his second win of the season.

The event will also treat fans to a live concert, as Monster Energy proudly presents The New Black Seven at the Camp Coker GNCC on Saturday, April 21st at 8:30 p.m. Admission to the concert is included with your wristband. Gate Admission for Adults (12 and over) is only $20, Kids (6-11) $10 and 5 and under get in free! Come watch the fastest off-road racers in the world battle at Moree's Sportsman's Preserve and rock out with The New Black Seven. Gate admission also includes pro pit access and pro autographs at no additional charge.

Saturday’s race schedule is as follows: Youth ATV racing begins at 8 a.m., with single seat UTV racing at 9 a.m., followed by amateurs, 4x4 Pro and Women at 10 a.m., and the pros and top amateurs race at 1 p.m. Following Saturday’s afternoon race will be Side-by-Side UTV racing taking place at 4 p.m.

The event is co-sanctioned with SETRA, a series that produces local racing events in the southeast, and will ultimately bring out a full slate of local racers. All local riders are invited and encouraged to compete in the event, as GNCC Racing offers classes for riders of all skill and experience levels.
