ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING’S THAD DUVALL CLAIMS RUNNER-UP POSITION AT MAXXIS GENERAL GNCC
JOSH STRANG RIDES A STRONG RACE FOR A FIFTH PLACE FINISH
The Maxxis General GNCC took place this past weekend in Washington, GA. Temperatures reached the mid-80’s with mid-level humidity. Rain the day before allowed track conditions to be near perfect, with a tacky course that was rough and tight.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thad Duvall jumped off the line mid-pack but crashed in the second turn enabling riders to pass. At the end of the first lap he had worked his way back up to fourth and continued his momentum into the third lap where he made passes to get the lead position. Duvall, who has been wanting to claim an overall victory, charged to keep his lead, but the course was a difficult one to maintain any gap. On the fifth lap, he was passed and would hold the second place position to the checkered flag.
“I went all in for this round and it showed for some laps. It was hard for me to get too far ahead of the group so once I started to lead, it was a lot of work. I wanted the win but just couldn’t hold the lead. Looking forward to the next round.” said Thad Duvall.
Josh Strang started off the line towards the top but quickly fell positions do to a poor line choice. After the second lap he pushed towards the front with the lead group where he battled for a top five position. During the race, Strang had lost access to his water supply, so fatigue started to set in around the last couple laps. He lost steam and finished in fifth overall.
Husqvarna Motorcycles supported, Rockstar Energy athlete, Tayla Jones started third off the line and by the end of lap one, was leading. From there, she rode consistent, fast laps to win her third win in a row in the WXC Pro class.
