Team UXC Race Report: Wild Boar GNCC

Team UXC Racing was back in action this past weekend at GNCC’s Moose Racing Wild Boar in Palatka, Florida. Round 2 would include both UTV and ATV Racing and the team had a great day taking three class firsts and an overall win!
UTV Races
Michael Swift and Kevin Trantham came into the second UTV race of the year knowing the track would be rough after a day of racing. They had spent long hours prepping the cars and it resulted in a UXC1 Pro Turbo class win and the overall.
Off the start, Swift entered the woods in third with teammate Trantham in fourth. Swift was on the second place car’s bumper hard. Despite some front differential noise, he kept pushing the car to stay with the leaders. Unfortunately, the front differential let go leaving the car without front-wheel drive. Swift was able to hold onto the fourth place position, with Trantham close behind, for two laps when a bad line through a mud hole allowed Trantham to pass.
Trantham ran a brilliant race to put his RZR XP Turbo on the top of the podium and win the overall. He credits the win to his Teixeira Tech A-arms, RCV ball joints and axels, CST tires filled with Tireballs wrapped around OMF wheels, along with DP brakes, for handling everything the Wild Boar course threw at them. Swift finished an impressive sixth and seventh overall without any front-wheel drive on the harsh course.
Both Trantham and Swift were proud to see their hard work pay off and know they are headed in the right direction.
Single-Seat Class
The Single-Seat class continues to grow in GNCC with a lot of great drivers taking to the course. Swift, coming off a second-place finish the first round, piloted his RZR RS1 from sixth to third. The finish has Swift in second for the season, just three points out of first.
Becky Widdicombe’s race in her ACE 900 XC was much better than Round 1 where a starting issue left her playing catch up all race.
Widdicombe was in the mix from the beginning, staying with the faster RZR RS1 vehicles, thanks to her CST Stag tires hooking up in the Florida sand. The smaller and more-nimble ACE shined in the woods, and she was able to pick good lines and pass some of the bigger RZR RS1s. A few unfortunate mishaps during the race had Widdicombe drop back but she was able to recover and finish sixth in the class. She’s confident her car has more speed and she’ll hit the podium soon.
ATV Races
Swift came into the 4x4 PRO class off a third-place finish in Round 1 on his Scrambler XP 1000.
He started mid-pack out of 13 racers and worked his way to third-place on the last lap when a lapper got hung up in front of him causing him to fall back and finish fifth.
Trantham continued his winning ways in 4x4 Senior taking his second consecutive win in the class.
Trantham got a decent start mid-pack and by the end of the first lap, he had worked his way to first.
He ran a smooth but conservative race and was able to maintain the lead for the win. Trantham’s teammate Graham Widdicombe also ran the class on a Scrambler XP 1000 and overcame a failure on his Flexx bars to go from last to finishing fourth.
Youth ATV
In 125 Sr., Team UXC’s Tayton Swift captured his first win of the season in the class of eight.
