406 Off Road Takes on The 2017 Mountaineer Run GNCC

Thursday, September 28, 2017 | 12:50 PM

This was the toughest GNCC UTV course to date and Team 406 Off Road not only finished, but are also bringing home some hardware. With this being the 4th of 6 rounds in the GNCC Season for UTV's, Team 406 Off Road needed some strong finishes to help the championship chase.

Despite the most rocky conditions ever seen in a GNCC UTV race, Shawn Hayes was able to keep the car in one piece to come out with a 8th in XC2 and a stunning 22nd overall.

Veronica Whitesell had a solid game plan coming into this round. Keep the car together while staying out front. And with a win in the Women's, and a 35th overall, thats exactly what she did.

Veronica Whitesell is officially only 1 race away from finishing the 2017 season strong in the new Women's GNCC UTV class. "I went into WV with almost the same game plan as I have all year. Keep the car together, while staying out front. I had to slow down in some of the rock garden sections, and Shanda Grounds and I were able to keep the car together till the end. I don't like racing that way. It doesn't show my true potential as a driver. But when championships are on the line, and a track like WV can DNF a car before the end of the first lap, thats just what we had to do." Veronica is 4 down and 1 to go to having a very successful season in the first ever GNCC Women's UTV class.

Shawn Hayes had another stellar GNCC UTV XC2 race at the Mountaineer Run. Shawn had a good start off the line and was able to click off better and better lap's as the race went on. "I knew I had to keep the car together till the end. Things were so rocky and I knew I had to finish strong. Shane East was pointing lines and we were just trying to stay consistent. And that paid off in the end." Shawn has done very well over the summer break with some wins and podium finishes in Crossroads Racing series and also the Midwest SXS and Midwest XC Series. Shawn is currently sitting in 12th in the XC2 Pro UTV Class with 2 awesome rounds left to battle for the 2017 season.

406 Off Road will be at the next round of GNCC at Powerline Park in Ohio, and then will be close to home at the last and final 2017 GNCC in Indiana at Ironman Raceway. Come say hello in the pits, and cheer us on as we close out an awesome 2017 season.
