Brive, FRANCE – Taylor Robert continued his impressive form at the 92nd running of the International Six Days Enduro by finishing seventh overall and just 10 seconds behind the overall fastest rider Ryan Sipes. Less than one-second behind France’s Christophe Nambotin, Taylor holds second overall in the overall individual standings. Kailub Russell endured a tough day finishing 16th overall, while the USA Women’s World trophy team riders Kacy Martinez, Brandy Richards and Rebecca Sheets all successfully completed the day and sit second in the provisional Women’s results.

Day two was unquestionably challenging as high temperatures and an extremely rough and rutted course and special tests ensured there was no let up for any riders. However, for Taylor Robert the day went extremely well as he again finished at the head of the overall individual results, posting the second fastest time on the near nine-minute long enduro test. With two days now complete, Taylor sits in a strong runner-up position behind France’s Christophe Nambotin in the overall individual standings.

Taylor Robert: “It was a good day for me. I didn't win any tests, but I was consistent with top five, top seven test times, which I was happy with. I hoped to take back some time from Christophe Nambotin, but I think he got me by a second or two. I’m definitely glad to have got through those first two days because they were really long and tough. The tests were really rough and rutted at the end of the first day, so today they just got rougher and tougher. The enduro test was super tough - I was so pleased to be through that because it’s one of the gnarliest tests I’ve ridden in a long time. It’s a new track tomorrow and a new track again on day four, so I’m looking forward to that.”

Hampered by the fact that he was further down the day’s starting order, Kailub Russell was forced to battle his way through numerous extremely dusty special tests to finish seventh fastest Enduro 2 class rider. Kailub holds sixth in the provisional Enduro 2 class standings.

Kailub Russell: “I felt like I rode a lot better today, but now I’ve seen the results I know that wasn’t the case. It’s a strange event like that. There’s been a number of occasions where I’ve felt like I’ve ridden really well but the times just weren’t what I was hoping for. It’s pretty much all new tests tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to that. The tests were tough today. It was so dusty in the woods, it was hard to see. I managed to keep upright and off the ground but I’ve got a little work to do and some speed to find, which I hope I can do tomorrow as the dust shouldn't be as much of a problem.”

KTM 2 team riders of Kailub Russell, Taylor Robert and Australia’s Daniel Milner remain at the top of the Manufacturer classification, one-minute and two seconds ahead of KTM 1.

In the Women’s World Trophy competition, Team USA’s Kacy Martinez, Brandy Richards and Rebecca Sheets moved up one position into second. Day one winners Spain ran into troubles as two of their riders failed to finish the day with injuries. Kacy, Brandy and Rebecca trail defending champions Australia by three minutes and 31 seconds and lead third-placed France by more than three minutes.

Kacy Martinez: “Day two went a little better than day one for me. I improved my test times and I got a little higher in the overall of the Women’s class, so I’m happy about that. The day was rough and the transfer sections were really dusty. I’m just pleased that I’m through the first two days of the race and that we move on to a new set of special tests and a new track for day three. I’m getting more familiar with the format of the race, so I’m looking forward to what day three brings.”

Brandi Richards: “My day wasn’t quite as good as yesterday. I had a couple of good get offs but I managed to salvage things not too bad. I found the tests to be pretty brutal in paces – the softer, silty sections were super rough and rutted and it was really easy to make mistakes. I got stuck a couple of times, which wasn’t ideal but it wasn’t too bad a day I guess. I can’t wait for the new trails of day three.”

Rebecca Sheets: “Day two was much better for me. I stayed on time all day and got some test times that I was really pleased with. I got through the transfer sections a lot better than on day one, and I guess I just felt a lot more settled. It was a tough day but I don't think I crashed all day, which was great. I had a little drama in the end-of-day work area after I changed my tires, so I’ll check that out in the morning. But generally it was a good day and I’m looking forward to day three.”
